i know we all have an update to look forward to this month , and yes rolling out a new character is an option for me . but to me it seems like this game like with many other mmos , has hit a snag and im finding myself not enjoying this game like when i first played it .

to me it seems like all the fun of leveling up a character and getting it geared up has all stopped and im just not feeling the joy in this game like i use to , don’t get me wrong , i still enjoy sometimes doing wvw from time to time .

but even that is becoming stale and predictable , there just is no excitement or objectives that matter for me when i do go into wvw knowing that the tower i just took is going to be taken back and it serves me no interest at all in this game , the idea of taking a tower or a keep should have value to your guild and server , but the more and more i do this i see that this is in no way benefiting when no one gains or loses anything of true value , perhaps if you told me that with each tick a tower my guild claimed was granting them some kind of monetary value , i could say yes this is important . but that is not the case here in this game .

this whole debate of which server is the best is nothing more than propaganda to claim which server really suffers the most with que time for wvw .

being tier 1 you might see more action there than you would normally on other tiers lower round the clock but the lower tiers don’t have to worry about que times like the top tiers do .

and even being tier 1 is not that special at all , mostly you see zergs running around because using strategy or tactics completely goes out the window when you can simply zerg everything down and take things out with numbers . there is no true battlefields for generals in wvw where holding strategic positions on the map would help aid you more than who you are fighting . no it’s just mindless zerging and unfortunately it’s quite embarrassing compared to the rvr of daoc , a game that came out in 2001 still to this day has a better rvr system than guild wars 2 which came out last year .

then you have the legendary weapons themselves , all that work for a weapon with the same stats as an exotic and it makes little no difference at all if you have one or not . so what if your sword is fancy and neato , i can use an exotic weapon and still beat the same foe as you and it changes nothing .

this game needs something fresh , something new , something that will keep my interest , a new expansion is just the thing to pump more life into this game , problem is that the people at arena net have made statements that they don’t have any plans for an expansion any time soon and that they are more focused on the living story

what ever the living story is , im not interested in it because it serves me no reason to care , the personal story rewarded you as you leveled up , this living story from what i have seen does no such thing to my knowledge .

im just hoping that with this new update , it will give me a reason to stick around longer , because at this moment i am burnt out on this game and im not enjoying it anymore .

Take a break There’s nothing wrong with that. In half a year this game will still be there, and you’ll be able to test it for a few minutes without coughing up a monthly.

Seriously … taking a break is not a bad thing to do.

Seriously, taking a break will leave you so far behind in gear and currency that you’ll never catch up again. It’s treadmill game design and players must make choice. Stay on the treadmill, or find a new game?

My posts are facts as I know them, or my own opinion, and do not represent any guild.

Treadmill? Having to catch up?
To what?

It’s still all gonna be there when you come back…

Nothing wrong with taking a break and coming back later. You can just pick it back up and keep going from there. Heck I do the same thing and I do not feel like I’m behind on anything.

I think you might confusing GW2 with your Farmville addiction or something, we’re not playing the same game in any case.

OP, like others said, just take a break. To me, the addictive draw of something like a WoW or Everquest has set the expectation (or even requirement) that an MMO should provide for thousands of hours of continuous play, averaging 3 to 5 hours a day play or even a (a lot) more.

GW2 just isn’t that kind of MMO, and it was designed not to be, no matter how much trolling goes on about it.

So have a break ! I’m down to just doing dailies and an instance here and there, and enjoy every minute I do play, but I’m sure there’s great things ahead for GW2. You gotta love subless MMO’s

Send an Asura who knows math. Problem solved.

To be honest I do understand a little where the OP is coming from…
Lets say he loves WvWvw but takes a year break… Within that year Anet roll out ascended armour bought with laurels, so with dailies everyone gets suited up.
Op comes back, no laurels to buy new gear leaves him at a far greater disadvantage in wvwvw (asc armour and trinkets will make a difference). So, seeing as he can’t play effectively in the part of the game he likes he may aswell delete game and move on.

Complete hyperbole. Not a single statement in that quote makes any sense.

Currently we know that ascended gear is rolled out through various means, of which laurels is only one. I don’t expect laurels to be the only source of ascended gear but rather a secondary route as seen with the earrings/rings.
For all we know, the primary means for getting ascended armor might be WvW.

To reiterate. Your post doesn’t make any sense.

Hmm.

So, ArenaNet tries making things, people complain about it. “Why don’t you fix what you already have?”

ArenaNet decides to fix what they already have, people start crying “stagnation” and “the game must be dying if they’re not pushing”.

I want my 50 silver from all the people who told me I was too pessimistic expecting this.

How is having x agony resist to do x fractal any different than having x gear score to do x dungeon in wow? Its called gear grinding in wow and a rose by any other name (fractals) is still a rose. this game is becoming so generic that its sad actually. It has the smell of corporation execs all over it now.

I’d say that finding a guild of like minded people is the best thing anyone can do. This game is a dozen times better with people into the same stuff you are. Right now I’m taking a break from helping a guildie level his first character to 80. We’re having a blast, even though I’ve done this all before.

I guess you are part of a Large guild or a fractal hamster ?
Maybe time for you to take off the rose tinted glasses? if the Asc armour is rolled out anything like the trinkets then unless you are part of a Mega guild, Love mindlessly doing Fractals then Laurels are the way to go (which Is ok and I can work towards what I want).

Saying that, maybe Asc gear in exchange for honour tokens could work :-)

What exactly is the OP going to be so far behind with exactly in terms of gear???….. or do you mean cosmetically he/she will look sub-par.
Where is this gear treadmill you speak of and even if there was one… is there a race to get to the top of the mountain before3 anyone else

As for currency…. really… REALLY!!
At least try to use some grey matter before posting such clueless comments.
