And then I decided to try and jump off the cliff into the water below.
Didn’t make it.

Ran halfway across Kessex on a hunt for the red spot. Was probably the most fun I had all day. Thanks for the entertainment, Gaile!

Ha. I have dual monitors, so taking a screenshot sometimes causes weird issues. Might just be on my end. I use Gyazo’s Capture Image tool to really quickly drag a rectangle to snap. Gaile was moving so fast, it was pretty touch-and-go between keeping up and getting the shot in time. :P

Oh, I had a Gaile sighting over the weekend! I secretly took screens, but they’re on my PC at home. I’ll post later.

This was the first sighting I had since her going away party in Guild Wars 1. I was pretty excited.

I have a 4k monitor and sometimes during big events taking screenshots crashes things

The only time I ever saw a red tag ingame was in WvW when our server had a peace-treaty with the other 2 servers on eternal battlegrounds. No one was able to attack anyone and apparently someone from ANet was looking into the issue.

Even the pet has the Anet icon. That’s adorable.

it means you see a dev in-game :P

Not everyone with the tag is a dev, for example Gaile is not one of the developers, but she has the tag. It’s more of an Anet staff thing than a dev thing.

The red icon is ArenaNet’s logo. The ArenaNet guild has a custom guild tag which shows their logo instead of [anet]. You can assume that anyone with that logo works at ArenaNet, though there can be exceptions. Keep in mind that they’re not all developers either. In this case for example, Gaile Gray is the forum communications lead.

I think we may have creeped her out a bit. In that last shot, right before I jumped off the cliff, it looked like she was trying to press into the cliff-side and disappear!

I wonder if the devs even still notice this, or if they’re just too used to it by now

I think it’s important for Staff members to make appearances in-game, just to so that players are reminded that they’re not those All-mighty unapproachable emotionless entities, they’re people like each and every single one of us. And I think Gaile does a very good job at it. Very modest and kind
EDIT: too bad they didn’t give her a special Frog pet skin. Back in GW1, she always had one. “The Frog” was her icon, like you’d associate Balthazar to Fiery Hounds lol
