Standardize range distances

How exactly did “recent changes” affect +1200 range classes and how they’re countered?
Seems to me that almost every class has a way to leap…blink or in some way rush the opponent. Just my opinion

I could be wrong, but I thought that the only profession that has a range greater than 1200 units is ranger.

Engi mortar kit is 1500 range, but if the op is dying to that, yea… this thread isn’t gonna help.
Due to the recent changes that so called “balancing” have wrought upon the classes it is time to delete the +1200 ranged attacks or give other classes the means to counter them. Being 1111ed to death by a class that you cant catch or hit due to thier speed and range is not balanced or fair. Maybe upping the duration and reducing recharge of Poison Gas would help , but mainly making all ranged cap at 1200 would be the best. I realize this will make the ranged classes have to develop more skill then just hitting 1 and running away to a safe distance but there needs to be a better balance.
Weapons going farther then the listed range isnt new?
(Ranger/Druid longbow/staff)
(Ele fire staff 1)
(Mesmer Greatsword 1)
are just the few i recall off the top of my head!
(most of them cant hit moving targets outside the listed range)
Mesmer Greatsword 1 is quite annoying due to the range bonus + it not being a projectile. The only option to stop that damage is to get in close.
On my Guardian if I meet a Greatsword Mesmer I know I must stick close to it.
Close range → destroy phantasms → down the mesmer.
A slow Guardian versus a fast mesmer in a long-ranged fight is a lost battle.
