I got my Star of Gratitude off-season. If you did the bit with bloodstone to unlock the collection, it’s available all year.

Truthfully though I have the star and Mawdrey. There only real function is to eat up excess bloodstone and fragments. In a year, I’ve never gotten significant loot from either of them.

Unless you are doing it just to have the item, it’s really not worth it.

I got Mawdrey and Princess to eat up an excess of bloodstone and dragonite, respectively, and I’m hoping to get the star for the same reason – but the scavenger hunts for these things are pretty fun too.

Get Herta for Bloodstone, it eats an entire stack in one gulp and returns Aurillium.

Were you on at all last year? You might check your home instance for the orphan and Grawnk. If they are there, you can still talk to them and Seimur still appears, although I don’t think he spawns on Saturdays in LA since they redid it. He’s definitely in Diessa today though and you can still buy the items.

I doubt that they will make the star of gratitude available again but instead make another one available.

Otherwise, those that got already wont have anything to do.
I they introduce a new fragment eater, player who already got the star, can obtain a 2nd one and new players will also be able to get one.

Either way would be fine by me, but as a newer player, this would be welcome.

Or they might do something like Herta (a second bloodstone dust eater): introduce a second quest for an alternative.

I am betting (inventory space) that it will return:

  • The coding is already there.
  • Appropriate open-world chests have been dropping Grubby packages all year.

Still, ANet is notoriously inconsistent about all sorts of things and Wanze’s track record of predictions is better than most people posting publicly, i.e. I won’t be surprised if it doesn’t return either.

Yeah, thats what i meant, they introduce a new one, so people who have the star already, will have two and new players will get one.

I was actually quite surprised myself, how accurate i predicted new legendary crafting to be. I made some posts about it in June/July/August i think and 3 things i was expecting back then was map completion required from maguuma jungle, not core tyria, lots of account bound mats and currencies from the new maps (4 mats and 3 currencies are needed) and some time investment in SW and DT (400 geodes and 1000 bandit crests).

And i expected them to require lower tier fine mats as well, which they do, but not sure, if i ever posted that.

It’s not worth it if you have any other use for the materials. But before I got these items I was regularly deleting piles of bloodstone dust, empyreal fragments and dragonite ore, and getting anything for them is better than getting nothing at all.

Chocolate Star Fish.
Forge recipe needs Vial of Salt.
Gives back 1-13 Empyrial Fragments and a random trash trophy without vendor value or recipe that requires it.

Eats 50 emp frags per try.

Players will lap this up because they can get rid of their access emp frags until they realize that all those useless trash trophy items they get from it and keep hoarding, have no use at all and only eat up more inventory space.
On Aprils Fool Day next year, they introduce a new mystic forge recipe that needs 4 of these trash trophies and awards a stack of emp frags.

I can confirm that this item is still attainable now if you started the quest last year but did not have the collection box when Wintersday ended. I had fed Grawnk the first bloodstone item and then forgot about the quest since the event ended. I picked up the process on Monday after this thread popped up and now have the star and tree node.

I am not sure if you can complete it if you only logged in/got the letter during last year’s event, but definitely if you started the process.

I think it would be easy to bring the gronk back to unlock the collection, since the collection is active once you start it. I think we might get a new collection as well.
