3. WvW and sPvP. WvW’s could use more maps and more incentives apart from braggin right on the forum. sPvP needs more game types.

4.7 -not planning on getting a legendary, all i want is tier 3 culture armors, and i am slowly getting to that goal, already made enough money for one of my character, so no complaints here.

5. 3. much more smoother than let’s say 2 months ago. Even if i encounter some glitches, most of them are not game breaking.

6. sPvP: lack of different game types ( that failed game SWTOR handle its warzone better than GW2 imo)
PvE dungeon: apart from the Fractal, i just don’t find other dungeon appealing in terms of game mechanics.

7. on Tarnished Coast: 10.
on Jade quarry: about 5-6.

1. Warrior (I do not want my wee little Asuran Warrior nerfed – but I’d like to see my other classes have as many options & be this strong – pie or no pie)
2. Ranger (I have both Ranger & Warrior – and Guardian & Thief, & Mesmer… I love the Ranger, but there are a lot of pet problems & I really feel it could use a flat damage boost)
3. PVE dungeons (I do not care about pvp)
4. <6 (I’m seeing so many hackers out gathering that it’s hard to call it great just now)
5. 3 There was a long period of few glitches, & given how many glitches I’ve seen in other games – eh, this is not game breaking.
6. PVE open world or dungeons
7. 7 – people are fine out in the world (I just turn off chat in Lion’s Arch so I don’t lose faith in humanity’s ability not to be annoying) I’ve only done a few pug groups, & those were limited by the speed run mentality – but the people were ok, in a ‘get it done, too-wow kind of way. And I don’t pvp – so there’s that.

1. Warriors get an awful lot of benefits out of very little player skill. For experienced/skilled/PVP/ADHD players I’d say Mesmer or Elementalist.

2. None are really underpowered, but honorable mentions go to rangers who can have pretty much half their damage killed very quickly, and engineers, who are the least played class and still get at least one nerf in every update.

3. PvE, in particular high end gearing is completely messed up right now and somehow manages to punish both casual players and hardcore players at the same time. I would also mention PvP, but that seems to be a very small community anyway now and there’s no simple fix.

4. Around 3 or so, too many currencies, too much farming, cosmetic items are too rare and stat items are perhaps a little too common (to the point where the entire tier of rare gear is basically reduced to forge/salvage fodder).

5. Around 3 as well. There certainly are some very prominent bugs but let’s be honest, after playing video games for 25 years, GW2 is very playable and one of the least obviously buggy MMOs I’ve seen in the last few years.

6. I would probably get into sPvP more if it wasn’t a waste of time as far as my PvE/WvW progress is concerned. I enjoy building characters, and while I don’t need or want benefits from gear in sPvP, I have limited time and don’t feel like playing the entirely separate game that sPvP is right now when I can work on my character instead.

7. Around 8 or 9, but I don’t do dungeons much so I get to choose who I play them with, and also don’t have to put up with speed run groups.

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

1. Most OP; PvE guardians and warriors, WvW thieves

2. Probably ranger… I hate all the ways my engineer sucks, but I’ve never seen any rangers do anything amazing now that I think about it.

3. WvW I like but feels rather pointless. Realm score DOES NOT matter at all and I can fight for hours and hours and hours and the rewards are never as good as if I were to just run a couple dungeons.

4. In-game economy is 8/10. Things are only expensive if they reflect the actual demand. Certain node-based trade mats are worthless though, likely due to teleporting bots and general ease of collection.

5. 2/10 on bug prevalence. I play engineer, I see many of them, but they really aren’t gamebreaking most of the time.

6. See above, WvW is pointless. They’re apparently working on that though.

7. 8/10 community.

(I do a little bit of everything, Personally cannot get into any type for long periods)
Spvp – Not enough match type variety to hold my interest for long periods of play.
Dungeons – Majority of them are still very buggy and not very rewarding, hard to find groups for many of them.
Open World – Not enough long DE chains, so you end up standing around for long periods of time either looking or waiting for the next event to start., also not very rewarding.
WvWvW – Just a massive zergfest, gets boring quick running with or running into 50+ players.

Depends on build and skill, I guess, but with my Necro I always have hard time to:
defeat Mesmer, catch losing (escaping) Elementalist. Besides most of the time it isn’t 1v1 fight so there’s a lot of factors that can affect outcome.
2. Which class do you consider to be the “most underpowered”?
I’ve almost never lost to ranger and engineer (I don’t brag, just say how it was).
3. Which aspect of the game do you think needs the most work done? (sPvP, PvE dungeons, PvE open world, WvW).
As we know that WvW will get new content in coming months, sPvP seems that will not get any new content that differs from what it is now.
PvE is rich and good in content but PvP lacks everything from new game types/modes, good class balance (here it matters a lot more than in WvW I think), class fixes and diversity in builds. Any many other things that ppl want…
4. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being good and 1 being bad, how would you rate the in game economy?

1. In WvW, Thief. In PVE ppl say Wars, but I feel my Guardian stronger.

2. Engineer by far, made one and deleted cos I was tired of being steamrolled. Couldnt make till lvl20. I really dont know whats the issue on Rangers, never felt underpowered with mine.

3.sPvP, no seems to care about it. Back in GW1, GvG was state of the art.

4. For me, 1. The price of legendaries/precursors rise exponentially faster than my income. Also, crafting looks more like a part of the Legendary grind than an alternate method of obtain stuff/get money.

5. 3. There are fewer bugs. But they are very annoying. Like wolves deaths not being counted in the Battle Pit, and Vollym remaining invulnerable to rest of event.

6. PvE dungeons. Apart from some “Flavor of the Month” paths/builds, always seem to be more fun and/or profitable do something else.

7. 10, by far, the best aspect of the game. This is what makes me log everyday.

As I have not played all the professions yet I cannot comment on this. I have 4 level 80s in full exotics and they all seem pretty balanced.

Same answer as question 1.

sPvP – Though the conquest gameplay is fun, it doesn’t hold me for long and I would like to see other game types implemented and larger scale PvP games added with assault and defend mechanics, like Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry in GW1.

4. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being good and 1 being bad, how would you rate the in game economy?
1 – There are only a few avenues to earn money, and if you do not enjoy those areas of the game you will really struggle to acquire the goodies you want. The rate at which you earn gold in open world PvE, for example, really needs improvement.

5. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being a lot and 1 being very few, how would you rate the amount of bugs/glitches in the current build of the game?
4-5 – I have seen and reported quite a lot of bugs in this game and every patch that has released has had something wrong with it. Overall the game is very polished, but there are more bugs than I expected there to be.

6. Which aspect of the game do you want to do more, but have no reason to currently do so? (sPvP, PvE dungeons, PvE open world, WvW)
I think WvW needs some improvements, such as incentives to stay and defend/fortify positions, etc.

7. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being great and 1 being the worst, how would you rate the community interaction between players? (things such as parties, dungeons, etc)
8 – I think it is pretty good, I see players help each other more than in any other MMO I have played to date and if an event is up people generally call it out in map chat.

Simplicity is complex.

Good feedback is key to getting the developers to listen to you.

4. economy: 2. Pure capitalism isn’t fun for most people. The rich get richer and the TP is more profitable than all other gameplay. This isn’t something that can be “fixed,” though: you’d have to throw out the entire model and start over. If the question is, “do they adhere to the pure capitalism model they’ve created,” the answer is more like 7.

5. bugs: 5. This number will never go below 5 because they are always going to be focused more on new content than bug fixing, and all new content introduces new bugs. It’s still a pretty amazing effort, though.

4. 3 – The auction house is good, the cost/grind for ascended, lengendaries, etc. is absurd.
5. 8 – its really not that buggy
6. WvW – Needs better loot, less repairs, more rewards etc. Hopefully next patch does a decent job with this.

sPvP and WvW they are not even close to the quality other games have.

sPvP and WvW, rewards need to have better value. Also WvW zerfest sucks.

1 and 2 – Considering PvP, WvWvW, and PvE, there is no single class that is overpowered or underpowered. Different classes excel or have trouble in different scenarios. That said, warrior is easiest for PvE and thief/mesmer/ele seem to rule WvWvW.

3 – PvE, except for ascended gear I don’t see a problem with the current PvE content. I prefer PvE to PvP and WvWvW so I would like more open world PvE content.

4 – 7, the economy isn’t perfect but it is acceptable.

5 – 1, the current bugs and glitches are not a real problem considering the age and magnitude of the software involved. The worst problem I encountered so far was the 32 bit client out of memory crash, but it was time for me to upgrade from XP anyway. Windows 7 64 bit has been flawless so far.

6 – None, I play PvE almost exclusively and accept that PvP isn’t for me. I may play more WvWvW in the future but it depends on finding a group/guild that employs tactics and strategy rather than the Zerg. However this is not an issue with the game, it is a characteristic of the players and I would not presume to dictate how people enjoy playing.

7 – 8, except for the occasional dungeon quitter and elitist most of the people I run into are good people. The worst aspect of this community are the forum trolls.

1. Answering from a PvE perspective: warriors, but warriors and guardians both get too much of a damage bonus for being melee compared to other classes.

2. Answering from a PvE perspective: Rangers, Engineers, and Necromancers are all pretty much in a terrible spot. Rangers and Necros both have been in a mediocre to bad place since the game released, but since the grenade nerf, Engineers are in the same place.

3. SPvP and WvW are both in a pretty stagnant situation. SPvP has an incredibly stale meta since it’s almost entirely point capture small maps and also since class balances are so small.
WvW just still seems to be rather pointless.

4. 8 – Overall the economy is fine as far as I’m concerned.

5. 7 – Open world and gameplay is pretty decent, but there are a lot of bugs still in professions.

6. WvW – This has so much potential, but at the end of the day, it’s hard to get motivated to capture some tower when there’s nothing really at stake. Bring back Hall of Heroes.

7. 8 – General chat in this game is significantly better than most other MMOs I’ve played and overall there’s a great community here. However, the current guild system leaves little reason for players to really interact and work towards something big. Hopefully Guild Missions will resolve this.

Hi, I currently have 1 of each class. Ranger, Mesmer, Thief, Necromancer and Guardian are 80 and geared in exotic. The rest are around 20-30 currently.

1. Which class do you consider to be the “most overpowered”? PvE: Warrior, because it allows for such high damage capability without the loss of survivability. WvW: Honestly, this really depends on the player and how you chose to play in WvW environment. I do not see the problem with thieves. Yes, I have one, but I play Necromancer WvW and do not get destroyed by thieves. I would consider Necromancer one of the strongest WvW classes.

2. Which class do you consider to be the “most underpowered”? Rangers, definitely. I just think they haven’t had the TLC regarding class balance that they need to excel with various builds and weapons. Their melee damage isn’t high enough to be worth the risk, compared with other classes in melee. Damage to minions and pets is too high. Pets are a risk in dungeons like Arah. Necromancer using a pet build (I don’t) may need help here too.

3. Which aspect of the game do you think needs the most work done? (sPvP, PvE dungeons, PvE open world, WvW) Overall, I think progress is being made at a rate to be expected with a B2P game.

4. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being good and 1 being bad, how would you rate the in game economy? 2, but the new chests with patch may help fix the economy some.

1. Hmm Thiefs definitely in WvW but that much is obvious due to culling. Warriors seem the most overpowered PvE wise at least with gaurdians if your not buffing your not as useful. Spvp i can’t comment on while i do play it somewhat i don’t run into many classes that are just plain overpowered as most of the time it’s a group of 5 running in circles so i have no chance to evaluate each class separately. Gaurdians do seem almost unkillable in a lot of situations though while still outputting a good amount of damage.

2. I play engineer and while it does feel underwhelming compared to a lot of classes and i do feel “weaker” in a lot of situations i have yet to encounter more than a handful of ranger who have outplayed me in Spvp, WvW and/or PvE since launch.

3. PvP in general WvW and Spvp are both lacking and have yet to receive the kind of content PvE has been receiving since launch.

4 . 5 Receiving Money isn’t as open as other MMOs, I play the TP and it feels like people like me have to much control over the market, People can still put purchase orders for items on the TP below the lowest asking price, Inflation is happening in huge amounts it seems due to market control.

5. 8 Each content patch is extremely buggy at launch and has to be patched almost the same day. The most recent patch is obviously showing this with the Spvp map being removed within the first hour and bounty guild missions being extremely glitched out. Orr still breaks from time to time and their are still launch day bugs that haven’t been touched like my Engineer Elixir gun skill Elixir F still misses randomly even in an open field. They also just fixed the problem that would cause you to auto run when picking up a kit while running something that has plagued me since before launch.

6. WvW, Spvp

7. 6 it’s good but not great people still treat others like crap in Trade, people exclude others from their dungeon runs based on class, Larger guild are consuming tons of smaller guilds, People are claiming to be the best in WvW when we can’t say someone is the best in random warfare due to random variables, People don’t wish to explain fights in dungeons they want people who know the fights.

Their is definitely a helpful community that i try to be a part of but to say this community is great would be to ignore all the bad behavior i have seen since launch. I would say it’s only slightly better than your average mmo in its current state if that.(Yak’s bend from beta to 2 months after launch, Kaineng for a few weeks here and their, Tarnished Coast to see what RP was like for a few weeks, Sea of Sorrows for the past 2 months)

kaineng was the most helpful and friendly they all wanted to learn or to teach besides a few groups of people this was of course back when they were stuck in T8.

4: Economy = 4. easy enough to use, and easily one of my favorite features of the game, but broken from a casual stand point.
5: Bugs = 3. Theres a few here and there but nothing too game breaking, and they are fixing them regularly. Monthly updates is amazing for a game of this scale.
6: WvW, see question 3.
7: Community = 8. Never had a problem finding a group or helping or getting help from anyone, organized or not. Almost no negative experiences whatsoever. (Fort Aspenwood)

None. The ‘good’ classes are only marginally better; I would never consider them to be overpowered at their current state.

Like above, none. The balance in this game is quite well down compared to most MMOs. I feel that a lot of people do not use the dodge mechanic properly and just take in all the damage, that’s probably why some feel that warrior/guardians are the best.

Definitely WvW and sPvP. PvE has enough content to last for a while.

4. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being good and 1 being bad, how would you rate the in game economy?
I would give it a 6. What bugs me is that you are forced to use the TP to trade and cannot use a trade window. I find it really dumb to be constantly taxed. I know it is to prevent inflation (money sinks) but it really doesn’t matter cause in the end, the materials you find would be sold at a higher price on TP which evens it out. (This is not the real world where the supply has a cost attached to it).

I would give it a 4. There are bugs I find here and there but I’ve seen more in other MMOs.

sPvP and WvW. I love PvP but at the same time I also hate mindless PvP. You need to give us a goal. Make it meaningful to actually win in WvW. For an example a cosmetic upgrade for certain number of invader kills, captures or maybe a ton load of influence points for guilds etc. This does not mean add more vertical progression!!

I would give it a 2. Never in a game have I experienced such horrible communication. There is no server-wide global chats to call out event spawns, no lfg tool for dungeons, overflow servers which divides the community etc.

EDIT: I just realized this can be interpreted differently for #7. Are you referring to the community in general or are you referring to the mechanics that help players communicate such as general chat? Community wise though, I would rate it an 8 since there are lots of people helping other players out.

On a side note, please disable weapon restrictions or add more USEFUL weapons. My guardian is stuck using a scepter 24/7 because that is the only viable ranged weapon and even then it is still lacking. Staff is the only other choice; however, it can hardly be called a ranged weapon when it is 600 range!!
