Guild Wars 2

Just some preview info, maybe someone could offer a suggested class/build to me, I have every class at 80. So with the newest expac announced I thought I’d ask what state the game is currently in balance and meta wise. The game has been in a slow downward spiral for me since the zerker’s meta BIG push back during close to the start of the game, it was most enjoyable for me before zerker meta was really pushed so hard. This isn’t an ask for a zerker rework tho, it’s just the structure of the game being focused on active defense over passive and there being no trinity.

I’m not into the builds tho that give you active defense, I enjoy support builds but I typically prefer support from a healer and buffer perspective, not really using Aegis or blinds to stop an attack a head of time. I’m okay with dodge rolling of course, that to me is more interesting and doesn’t take up a skill slot.

I was really attracted to the Chrono, Druid, and Necro and mained those, while working on a condi/tank build for necro before raids came out, believing that raids would require more for passive defense and wouldn’t be so zerker heavy. Of course almost right away it was discovered the best tank build when the raid came out was zerkers, with one piece of soldiers gear (or something of the like) that’s when I was done. I wanted my build to at least be a little viable for my necro, so I could do it with friends, but it wasn’t even that even tho ANet promised more build variety. Druid meta was a mix of healing and dps which was more appealing but I was more excited to play necro. It was a big let down and I just stopped since, I miss the game but I every time I would try every month or so to play things didn’t seem any better and population was low everywhere I went.

tl;dr plus actual questions. So, is the meta still super zerker heavy? Are certain classes still just that much better than others? Is active defenses still the necessary way to play the game? If so I won’t be getting the expac and my SO also, he was hoping to do condi heavy healer tempest and that also was not viable.
