I am a returning player, and am trying to decide what I want to do with my off time play. Is wvw going well? when I left a while back it seemed basically dead. And all I read are complaints about sPvp. I really could get into either. Any advice?

WvW is in a constant state of repair, which is better than the state it’s been in prior to HoT being left for a decaying corpse of a mode.

PvP is still PvP. It’s had improvements, but nothing standout to say it’s greatly improved. Though its always going to have complaints, that’s the nature of any game especially competitive modes.

I think WvW is great currently. The new track system encourages players who stop through for the quick dailies to stay and participate IMO. The server “teams” help low WvW pop servers to actually play with a crowd.

some of those low pop servers were low pop for a reason, and enjoyed their communities and having less people on the map as it made them feel like every action had an impact. Turning everything into T1 & T2 blob may have helped populations but it didn’t help the community aspect at all.

Well then what about all the complaints that the low pop WvW experience was terrible even before HoT? So who do you satisfy?

It’s like the megaservers or the issue of server mergers. Some communities love the low population like some people like living in the country. Unfortunately WvW needs a minimum level of active participation otherwise it’s just people passing through doing dailies or everyone on the center map.
