Stats on GW2 vs HoT players
None that are available to the public. We can guess that the number is lower than ANet expected, since NCSOFT reported that income from sales dropped drastically in the most recent two quarters.

I’m curious about what the counts are for the number of players that bought GW2, use free play and have bought HoT? Are these stats out there anywhere?

I believe the OP could have typed ‘or’ rather than ‘and’ (though ‘and’ is correct, as well,) to convey that he/she would like to know the number of Core-purchase players, the number of Play4Free players, and the number of Heart of Thorns-purchase players. Though, some would overlap unless he/she means how is the current playerbase divided between ‘only-owns Core’, ‘only plays P4F’, and ‘purchased-HoT’.
At one time I was all three: 1 HoT account, 3 Core accounts, 1 FTP account. I’ve since upgraded the free account to a Core account. I really only wanted to see what it was like.
So there may be a big difference between “players” and “accounts.”
