Will transmuted legendaries ever stay “Legendary” status even after transmuting? Since getting my first legendary I keep hearing about “Legendaries that are transmuted might not be brought up to ascended stats” which I know Legendaries that are not transmuted will be but those that have been are still iffy.
I was just wondering if there has been any recent dev comments on the subject or is this just a incorrect speculation?

Working on my next legendary and still deciding which toon to put it on, the answer to this will help a lot as well.

You’ll get no official response from any dev on this because they don’t even know yet…

Until they start working on Ascended weapons they’re not going to know exactly how the system will work so they won’t be able to say.

I assume however that if they can they’ll make transmuted legendaries upgrade as well just because it would not be worth dealing with all the angry idiots who forgot that they knew they were taking a risk when they did it. But there is no guarantee at the moment that they can. Depending on how the item system works from a coding perspective there may not be any way to identify transmuted legendaries in order to upgrade them.

But on the other hand if they don’t upgrade all you’ll need to do is get an Ascended weapon and transmute it again. And since I assume the Ascended stats they’ll be given will be the same ones as the Exotic stats they currently have people who don’t like the stats now won’t like them when they’re Ascended either and will be doing that anyway.

I highly doubt that ascended weapons will get upgraded at all. Yeah sure, they said they would but, lets be honest…they talk a lot and dont do very much.

I reckon you will still have to transmute the legendary “skin” onto whatever the next tier of “ascended” wepaon is…assuming you can be bothered grinding one. Thats if they arent in RNG boxes…or even worse, bought for laurels.
