Timing evades requires player skill, especially against human opponents. Plus you can still see them which prevents them from simply resetting the fight if you gain the upper hand.

There will always be people who dislike a change, but people complaining about how they got outplayed by a guy who effectively timed evades shouldn’t be used as a reason to prevent good changes.

It requires skill if you have only two evades at your disposal. If you have, conceivably, unlimited evades, or let’s say a lot of evades (10+), then it really is a matter of you evading a bunch of times in a row while the enemy blows their cooldowns, then hitting them with a bit of burst, then dodging a bunch again.

If anything it would make it harder for players to kill Thieves because you would have to purposefully time your attacks better to not waste big skills on one of their many, many evades. And also, instead of them disappearing and running away, you’ll be able to watch in anger as they blink, dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge away from you and still escape anyways.

I’d rather a Thief goes invisible and me run in tight circles swinging my GS around waiting for him to pop up than for a Thief to be able to perma-evade or close to perma-evade my attacks. But that’s just one man’s opinion.

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.

I’d like to see thieves’ class mechanic expanded and improved. Stealing has always seemed to me like a simple gimmick that could and should be so much more. Make thieves more like thieves. Steal more skills, scavenge for local items to gain an advantage, give new ways to move in combat and keep opponents one step behind quick hands.

The disappearing act is a nice parlor trick and should be trimmed down to that level to make room for a truly deep and versatile class mechanic.

Honestly I don’t really see thieves to be problem as they are atm, even with stealth and bursts. Especially in WvW and PvP.
Personally I’m not exactly good player, average at best, since I often do stupid mistakes and stuff. Still I find them okay, as long as I’m not fixated to actually kill them.

“They’re ok as long as I don’t actually try to kill them”. Did I just read that?

Of course thieves are annoying to play against, but seriously Warriors, Guardians, Necromancers don’t really have any problems with Thiefs as long as they have at least decent gear, especially in WvW where most has Soldier, Cleric, Sentinel gears, thus having at least high toughness, but usually HP too and honestly if you fail to thief with those characters you fail as player.

Um, armor and health don’t win fights, especially as a necro. You need to bring the opponent’s red bar down first and you’re not doing that with just any build that can take hits. I don’t even play a thief but this is absurd.

necros got a lot of ways of doing that, after all; they dnt have to worry about enemy’s armor nor sticking to them to do full damage, it is called conditions, and they melt anyone regardless of what gear you are wearing. Classes with 11k hp such as ele get melted vefore they have a chance to finsih casting any of their unnecesarily long abilities.

45 seconds, if we are to do the full burst. Without popping all the signets the backstabs are about 10k, and sticking around if your burst fails is generally speaking not a good idea.

You are cherrypicking the best parts of different builds here. There are builds doing 16k crits and there are ones doing backstabs every 4 seconds, but no build I’ve heard of can do both at the same time.

iff you want an image of what stealth can do look at the mmo perfect world international there thief or assassin is in permastealth and he can pop anytime in and aut and you get one shot wen he reveal itself almost any class
