So normally you sometimes get a wooden chest drop from enemies in this game, right?
However, in the Cliffside Fractal from a normal chanter mob, I suddenly get a steel chest?! It even gave me an exotic! Guess these loot chests aren’t so bad after all.

Nice! This is the first I’ve heard about steel chests.

yeah I see these regularly in Orr. never gotten anything less than masterwork from them. often times it’s a rare =]

I’d imagine that the Steel Chest would tell you right away that opening it would grant you loot that’s normally rarer than the loot found in Wooden Chests. I often see Steel Chests a lot when running Fractals and they almost always have either a random Exotic or Ascended Mist Essence (appropriate for that level’s tier).

I had a steel chest drop the other day too, also contained an exotic. Only time i’ve seen one so far.

So it does happen with other people!
I got one in fractals too.

While farming sparks and air elementals today in Malchor’s Leap, a steel chest dropped from a veteran air elemental. I didn’t get anything special but another member of my group got an exotic bow, “Eir’s Longbow.” First steel chest I’ve ever seen.

Oh so these are loot chests. I was wondering where these popped from. The game is doomed

I’ve had wooden chest dropping talons, spike and fins. Is this normal?

I found a steel chest during the claw pre-events a couple of days after the patch, contained an exotic and 2 other items. Though I got an exotic drop yesterday that wasn’t even in a chest, just normal loot.

Most of the wooden chests I see in Orr/WvE just have porus bones/spikes/meat in them for some reason… other zones seem more normal…
