Still needs Dungeon Finder

Nonono and no.I’m absolutely agains such idea. The current LFG is working just fine.We don’t need automated LFD like WoW’s.I will tell you why.
GW2 doesn’t have tank and healer roles so it is quite easy to find and join groups listed in the LFG.
Also by listing the existing LFG you may start using other channels which normally you are not using.
With dungeon finder system in place i would not be able to write exactly what i’m looking for.It will randomly match me with players.I want to have more control over the group i’m creating. Also i want to know exactly what kind of group i’m joining.Which automated LFD will not let me.

You’d have a point if it wasn’t already proven that most of the dungeons in the game just fade away into the darkness. You don’t have to use it, that’s the glory of it. But I’d rather them get use than not because people are too proud of not having one of WoW’s systems. I’m sure a lot of new players would too. I’ve had friends quit because of dungeon issues.

Peoples ironic dismissal of WoW is so comical its sad. WoW did it so no!
News flash: GW2 is the epitome of themepark gameplay which WoW created.

Actually i’m not dismissing it for the reason you gave.I think the current LFG is better, because i can list exactly what i’m looking for. Also i can see different groups and what classes they have. How many people are in the group and so on.
Bashing WoW is like being a hipster irl. Why not get something good for other MMOs and improve this one?
Everyone crying about zerker and elitists around here, why not get random LFG together with 30mins deserter buff?
That way you choose to either do the dungeon with people that are non meta or go afk for 30mins. Or, don’t use LFG at all and get 4 buddies and go wild the way you want to.
This suggestion is meant for the whole community, which is made of 90% casuals, not just for the 1%.

Actually Guild Wars 2 IMPROVED on a lot of the nonsense that was in WoW for no real good reason, like kill and node stealing.
What you don’t like being able to remotely deposit mats? Should be go back to WoW because we’ve built upon it.
The LFG tool is better than the one used in WoW. Returning to it would be like devolving.

Wasn’t necessarily directed at you per say, which is why I didn’t quote. However this topic has come up before and like with many other topics, people dismiss ideas simply because “WoW did it”.
You could still have both and either allow quick queue or more specified requirements. Regardless LFG or dungeon grouping currently is pretty bad, which is why dungeons are glazed over by so many.
WoW has many good systems that can be adopted or improved upon but I don’t think the dungeon finder is something worth bringing to GW2. The reason being there is no Tank or Healer role.
Before dungeon finder in WoW you had to stand in a city spamming “LF 1 Healer 1 Tank Deadmines” for aaaaaages and assuming you didn’t have leavers from waiting too long or someone just went afk while you spammed, you then needed 2 people to go run to Deadmines and start summoning the rest. It took AGES!
Because there isn’t this god awful wait (which still needed you to be actively spamming and then summoning) in GW2 you don’t need the automated system.

Technically, though, I’d like to get off of WoW as a whole, WoW had both, now. The best option IS both.
LFD automatic grouper = Faster game play, more casual, more Active.
LFG Tool = Slower, often abandoned, but looking for specific scenarios.
They have entirely different uses and even the LFG tool as it stands does not see much use for dungeons outside of a select few paths for specific dungeons. LFD would be used to get more people to play dungeons, bring a breath of life to mostly forgotten content, and make it more accessible, which is a key element to MMOs, accessibility for people not wanting to wait around all the time. The other flaw with LFG Tool, as hit on, it allows simple exploitation of dungeons. Only do the easiest dungeon with the easiest path. A random dungeon finder gives purpose to doing dungeons no one else does, as you either do it… or you don’t and you leave, but have to wait.
Right now I see so few people doing SE, HotW, and CoE, but it doesn’t have to be that way. I’d love to get more use and familiarity with the content the game already has.

The purpose isn’t always to find a missing Role. It’s about accessibility, quickness of play, and incentives to doing something that you would otherwise just avoid. Even now, like I said, sure you can easily find a CoF path 1 group, but finding a group for a different dungeon is near impossible. There’s also no incentive to push through and keep trying, as there is no drawback to leaving and letting the group fall apart, and filling spots with a standard LFG tool is much slower than having them sent to you automatically via an automation tool. More fun for less time and adding incentives to do content that exists are the main goals here.

Just wanted to get a bit more feedback on this situation. I think it would do a lot to revive forgotten content, that frankly I’d love to see be done more.

As an option it would work. I’m sure plenty of people would like to just click on a button and have the party formed for them.
I agree, an rdf + lfg combo would really be great. it could really help more of the game’s players get into dungeons, and give lesser played dungeons their time to shine.

Yup, especially with raids coming this might be nice.
People aren’t doing dungeons for lack of dungeon finder, people aren’t doing them because for a lot of people, it isn’t worth doing them.
Dungeons are only worth doing if you’re good at them, and can clear a path in a very short time span. If you can run through a path in 5 to 10 minutes then yea, it’s worth doing. Once per day that is, since otherwise you just get like 25 silver and 20 tokens. The chests in dungeons absolutely suck, you will almost always get nothing but blues and greens.
If you want the weapon and armor skins, just do PvP. If you want the gold, then just go to Silverwastes.
That’s also why you see most parties saying “experienced only” or something similar, and frequently that you have zerkers gear. It just simply isn’t worth it to run a dungeon unless you can run through it extremely quickly.
Even then it’s sometimes not worth it. I spent about 30 minutes running all 3 paths in Crucible of Eternity. I got 0 charged lodestones/cores, 180 tokens, and about 4 gold. Later I spent about an hour in silverwastes. Got 3 charged cores, about 10 gold, and a ton of ectos and tier 6 mats.
