Still no word from Anet regarding patch
So much criticism, and we have had no community support commentary at all regarding the megaservers, traits and RP community issues that have been pounded out for over a month now.
Whilst the trait alterations to reduce some of the ridiculous requirements are appreciated, there are still several issues to be solved.
If it was on this forum, remember, this is NOT the majority of GW2 players. A majority of players do not post or read here. Many people who post here do not even play the game any more (you can tell all the threads Starting with ‘Bored with GW2’ etc.).
Maybe you actually need to read other places that A.Net posts – Twitter, Reddit, Official WIKI, etc.
What is wrong with megaservers? I like them – they make zones less empty and more fun to cooperate and help other players
Traits? What is wrong with them? It is more similar to the GW1 system and that is what many players wanted.
RP community? They seem to be settling pretty well and doing what they do best. This is especially true since the last update.
You need to expound and not just be declarative – many people don’t understand what you are talking about.

There are at least 3 threads specifically detailing the issues with each aspect of the path that I mentioned. If they are reading these as they claim to do, the developers know what I am talking about. But to summarise:
Megaservers: People not able to participate in guild rushes because of map player caps spreading them all about the show. Lag and disconnect issues.
Traits: being difficult to access for players compared to before, making it harder to experiment with builds, lower level players being forced to play sub-par builds because of this unless they buy manuals, temples not giving traits when they are constantly held so the trait earning triggers do not fire, and the ridiculous notion that more restriction constitutes a ‘horizontal progression system’.
RP Community: log into an RP server’s instance of Divinity’s Reach at peak time and thats the end of your RP in that city for the evening.
Traits? What is wrong with them? It is more similar to the GW1 system and that is what many players wanted.
Not even close to GW1 “SKILL hunt” system! If you want to know whats wrong, go read all 22 pages here.

Anet can no longer use the “we’re working on China” excuse since it was said most/all of the devs have returned from China. And the fact that this silence has been going on ever since the feature patch…
I am still waiting for a comment on the massively overboard karma nerf they did in August
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”
Really, Dusty Moon?
The last place you expect them to respond to criticism is on their official forums?
How could I say this nicely.
Maybe those Dev’s have just get tired of QQ Americans and European ppl. What ever they have done in this game there is always in a forums full of QQ players.
If they make dungeons, there are QQ players, if they make zergs there are QQ players, if they make some event harder there are QQ players, if they make some events easier there are QQ players. So what they have learn during this 2 years. They can not please American or European players, they are just QQ all the time.
Now they were in a China, and I think there wasn’t so much QQ in there at all. And maybe they make a decision, they will ignore these QQ American and European players and do game how it pleases to Chinese players.
And in that way the have made the best decision in this game.
Concerning megaservers:
While a majority of people on the forums complain about megaservers, I’ve yet to see much talk about it in-game. Have done some of the guild missions, and as long as you are in a party with you guild you shouldn’t have any issues. The only issues I’ve seen are multiple guilds waiting to do the same missions. But the leaders/officers usually hash out who gets to go when between themselves. So it’s really a moot point.
Concerning Traits:
I have yet to see any of the traits broken or not functioning as intended. While it is harder to level up and get traits, it is working as intended. The temple traits: Its not because the system is broken that doesn’t allow for people to get the traits, its the other players. So instead of letting the defense fail, so the temple can be unlocked again, people are keeping the temple open. But as of 5/20 the Lyssa temple has been fixed to allow the trait for successful defense as well as defeating the priestess, so they are getting fixed and not ignored.
While they do fix things that are broken and address various issues with things, they don’t start a new announcment thread, or write a new blog with interviews about it. You can check out the game update news for the patch notes on what was fixed here. You just need to look for them.
It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”
On the RP side, well, I don’t think Anet has ever been big on that issue. Not that I think they’re against it, but so far there has been little official support to it AFAIK.. might be wrong, though, not a RPer myself, so don’t really follow that much that side of most games (the full extent of my RP experience in MMOs was stumbling into a RP session in an inn in Age of Conan).
About the changes to traits, I’m guessing they’re taking the long road around to see how it works. They just released the game in China, and they do seem to be very into keeping both versions as close as possible (makes sense considering that it’ll ease the work of localization for every future release), so I don’t foresee big changes to how it works.
Still, they are responding to criticism in that area, even if they don’t post about it. IIRC two big complains about the traits system was that some unlocking requirements being too high (needing frostgorge sound map completion to unlock adept traits, for example), which were removed in this last patch, and the temple of lyssa that didn’t unlock the trait unless the temple was captured, not defended, also fixed in this last patch. From patch notes:
Precision Adept Trait 5: This trait has been moved from Bloodtide Coast map completion to the defeat of Sharky the Destroyer in Arca Lake of the Harathi Hinterlands.
Precision Adept Trait 6: This trait has been moved from Fireheart Rise map completion to the defeat of Captain Jayne in the Brigantine Isles of Gendarran Fields.
Toughness Adept Trait 6: This trait has been moved from Iron Marches map completion to the defeat of the giant blood ooze in the Challdar Gorges of Bloodtide Coast.
Vitality Adept Trait 5: This trait has been moved from Timberline Falls map completion to the defeat of Gargantula, the spider broodmother in the Wynchona Woods of Harathi Hinterlands.
Vitality Adept Trait 6: This trait has been moved from Mount Maelstrom map completion to the defeat of the krait witch of Nonmoa Lake in Timberline Falls.
Profession Adept Trait 5: This trait has been moved from Sparkfly Fen map completion to the defeat of the Champion Ice Wurm at Venison Pass in Lornar’s Pass.
Profession Adept Trait 6: This trait has been moved from Frostgorge Sound map completion to the defeat of Lord Ignius the Eternal of Lornar’s Pass.
Profession Adept Trait 13: This trait is now awarded upon preventing the statue of Lyssa from being retaken by the Risen, as well as defeating the corrupted high priestess of Lyssa.
About the megaserver, well, at least personally I like them. Yes, it can be a bit annoying when trying to do guild missions on large guilds (I’ve done them with 40+ people at the same time), but not that bad either, just need to spend 10 minutes beforehand ferrying people until everyone is on the same map. On the other hand, it has made lots of areas of the game that were practically ghost towns feel alive again, I keep running into people doing events everywhere, I’d really say that while the system does have some big drawbacks, the benefits far outweight them (at least from my point of view).
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
I gave up on getting any official response from Arenanet regarding those topics. Actually, I don’t expect to see anything from Arenanet if the feedback is negative. Well, at most we’ll get a non-response. See the thread about the pavilion not awarding loot. Multiple threads were merged into one, just like the threads regarding the feature patch, and there hasn’t been a real answer yet.
I guess it’s a sign of the times. In the future, I expect weekly updates to the gem store, no answer if the update proves to be not popular and an equally bad Living Story season 2. Which is why I won’t bother to log too often, if at all.
I just figured I should drop in and say the RP community is not doing well, despite what people who have no idea how the RP community functions are trying to say. They are dying. Quickly.
