I assume arenanet or the artists have the rights over the guild wars 2 concept art, and I’m not sure this is the place to put it but recently I’ve seen a facebook game use artwork from guild wars 2 (specifically http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:GW2wallpaper01.jpg by Kekai Kotaki) used by a game called knight’s fable for advertisement, this is not the only one I have seen in the past as at some point I’ve seen the Nika artwork form GW1 slightly recoloured and advertising another game (though this was a while ago) unfortunately I didn’t tag the arena net facebook page on their post but next time I see it I will

I take it this use of artwork isn’t legal?

They have had issues with other games doing this as well. Here is what Gaile from Anet requests if you run across such things:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Has-anyone-noticed/first#post4612902

If you could kindly post a direct link to the ad — not to where the ad leads but to the ad itself — we can investigate.

No doubt, a cease and desist order will or has been sent. Pretty shady. But no surprise these days.

Happens all the time with art and photos across the Internet.

Edit: Check out this lovely game. Does the UI look familiar?

Wow, just wow. They do say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.

Also it’s just being plain lazy

Yes, LoA is one of those games that frequently use “borrowed” art in their ads. Aparently they do that ingame as well.
Guess it’s not that easy to do something original nowadays.

Actions, not words.

I’ve seen it for “League of Angels” a Chinese game that uses every underhanded and illegal tactic there is to advertise their “game”. I haven’t seen it for anything else though.

LOL, yes I do. But she had permission, unlike these other rapscallions.

i imagine Square Enix might have something to say about the title artwork as well lol

As quick as the Valkyries ride,
As true as Odin’s spear flies,
There is nowhere to hide.
