I’m assuming you’re talking about the new armor sets, and if so, I don’t understand the complaint seeing as all 3 sets DO have pants (well, the light one on females is a bit iffy, but the rest definitely do). Sure, they have a “skirt” cape type thing in the back (I’m sure there’s an actual term for this, but I don’t know what it is) but they have pants as well.

Yes, let’s have more aggressive styled armor sets that strike fear in our enemy’s heart and admiration from our comrades!

In all seriousness, I’ve noticed the same thing, so I agree with the OP. Please, ANet, stop designing everything with a skirt…especially heavy armor!

  • long skirts
  • trenchcoats

It needs more:

  • miniskirts
  • functional armor

That is all.

yep, you are definitely playing a different game then me – 90% of all non-gem store medium/heavy armor are pants or pants underneath medium to long skirts, not (above knee) skirts. maybe I should call them mini skirts, better?

I completely agree: stop with the skirt-over-pants or trenchcoats already! And I’m talking about for women as well as men. I would like all of my characters to be able to have just pants please. There is not one single example of just pants for light armor (not harem pants or tights). And there are only 2 examples of just pants in medium armor.

And I agree about the shoulders also.

There’s no miniskirt in Masquerade armor.

If you want a miniskirt, there’s Acolyte armor and not all that much else (maybe Magician or Temple armor). Which is ironic because that’s the starter armor and I’m still wearing it at level 80 on multiple characters.

Yeah, not all long skirts are prudish, but that doesn’t make them any less of a long skirt.

So yeah, we need more miniskirts. At least in the light armor category.

I’ll add in what others have said on both accounts. Stop with this butt-cape bullkitten and give us sets that have just pants, and sets that are just skirts. There are a lot of potentially nice skirts in game, but they look like they’ve been shredded or torn in bizarre or dumb places.

And stop with the trench coats. Seriously, is the team in charge of making armor all a bunch of gothic teenagers?

I’ve been asking for pants without skirts. dresses or butt capes over them since launch. It’s a pity that, unless you wear medium armor and can find a top that’s not a coat, pants without a skirt/cape are a vanishing breed. It’s a pity. I hate to make the comparison but there was a much better balance of pants v. skirts in the original game.

Butt-capes are ok but now we need something different.

Also, many armor/clothes would need retouching: some looks outdated graphicswise. Yet again Skyrim is a good example: players are retouching armors and do it very well.

You want to know why they always use buttcapes, skirts, and trench coats so much? Because it gives them design real estate in which they have room to add in differentiating patterns and details. The argument could be made that the Anet art team relies too much on having that additional space, but there really is only so much you can do with a pair of pants.

I agree, but i notice many people dont understand what he means.

He means essentially, any outfit that creates a skirt after the waist.

he doesnt mean what we think of as skirts today. (usually what women wear, no pants)
but closer to “: the part of a dress, coat, etc., that hangs from the waist down”

put it like this on male or female charachter, how often could you see their pants pockets(if they had some)

I get the overall feeling that the people in charge of armor/costume design have a distaste for butts (in pants). Sometimes it seems they go out of the way not to show it.

I think it’s an attempt to differentiate profession looks through armor. Human medium has lots of actual pants, while human light literally doesn’t have a single pair (gypsy doesn’t count!).
Personally, I find the armor selection for light human atrocious and this is a big part of the reason.

I doubt that. Why? Because the female light Embroidered pants are not only low enough to warrant buttcrack view (not kidding), they actually feature a see through cloth panel to further enhance the freaking view.

My Ele wore this for a while because the front looked pretty neat in her outfit of choice. Once I realised I was instead constantly confronted with crackview during normal play it went straight into the bin. It couldn’t be unseen, so argh!

Asura females have nothing to hide.

Which, unfortunately, is probably why so often they are forced into wearing male armor that would appear different on females of other (ex: human) races.
