I have so many skins taking up slots in my bank. Most of them I’ll probably never use but some of them I’ve put on characters. Unfortunately about 98% of the time I forget to use the skin so I wasted a transmutation charge and there’s the skin still taking up a slot in my bank.

What if when you select “Store in wardrobe” it would actually store the free skin charge as well. That would be sweet. Then I could put more important things in my bank, like all the different “keys” we now have… :P

This is why I usually delete skins. I always have more transmutation charges than I’ll ever use, so the one free use that I’ll probably never use in the first place is no big deal.

I just delete the skins now; transmutation slots are easily obtained.

I wouldn’t say ‘no’ to ANet changing it so that you can get an extra transmute charge for “store in wardrobe,” but I don’t think it’s worth their time to change the current setup.

I’d really like this (and have asked for it and agreed with others who asked for it over the years). Sure, one or two or ten items aren’t enough transmutes to worry about losing if you need the space, but by the time you get to 75 or over a hundred skins you start to realize you’re giving up a lot of gem-value if you just delete them unused.

How do you end up with so many skin items that you’re not using? Apart from the ones that come from achievement rewards you only get them when you buy gem store items, and I can’t imagine why you’d buy over a hundred of those that you’re not going to use right away.

Most of them came when I had income. I haven’t actually counted, it isn’t necessarily over a hundred, but it is a few tabs. Some are multiples of things like the celebration hat and other once-town-clothes that got converted. There are BL skins I got when they were one ticket because I liked them but didn’t yet have an alt that was right for them. Then there’s the issue that a lot of gem skins now unlock in Wardrobe when bought, I forget to look by the time I’m using the skin, I use a charge … And then there are the armor sets which I might use one piece of and then I have five more pieces waiting for if/when they suit a look.

At any rate, the only purpose of an unlocked account bound skin is to give you one free application of that skin. I understand that a transmutation charge is fungible but I can’t see how it makes any financial difference to ANet at all if a player uses the free charge to change to something other than the sold skin. Maybe that’s because I don’t spend gems on charges? Regardless, the skin is a charge and nothing else, so why not have the option of turning it into one to clear out inventory space?
