I find Orr and all the personal story just such a drag, are the LW seasons and HoT better?

That’s really debatable and it’s going to vary on who you ask. Personally, I feel like the story has gone downhill since the start of LWS3, maybe even as early as mid to late LWS2.

Playing GW2 for the story is like expecting plot in a porno. You’ll be left disappointed.

True it varies from person to person. Still not orr lvls of downhill.

I guess I was too general, my main issues with Orr/Story:

- 3 Maps of just the same enemies give orr (:p) take, just risen risen risen.

- So many story steps seem to be filler as you just go to the objective and fights waves of risen while waiting for trahearne to do something.

-Airship cannons and mini dragon creatures, one is enough really.

Story wise it goes LSS2>HoT>GW2>>>LSS3>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>LSS1

S2 had a decent plot with a good bit of sleuthing and trying to figure out what the hell is happening. HoT may have been super short and you-know-who’s death was an incredibly stupid case of Fridging, but Canach’s there, and maybe the short length helps the good bits really shine—also, the little of Treehearne we see is absolutely fantastic. GW2 suffers from many problems I’m sure you’re aware of. S3 is all over the place, with threads going everywhere or being snapped up short.

S1 had Scarlet. That alone kitten s it.

I honestly miss the separate path options in Zhaitan arc. I know the end result is the same but it atleast gave a feeling the story exploring into how the Commander ended up where he or she is and which ally they made themselves while the other NPCs the Commander did not meet joined due to their own reasons without the Commander’s influence.

I’d rate them: Personal Story = Season 2.

Season 1 is unavailable anyway, so you can only find an NPC somewhere who will relate what happened. I cannot really rate HoT or Season 3 as the game has been regularly DCing me near the very end of story steps. If I did rate them, I’d put them in the cellar, but a lot of that is frustration at doing the same step over, and over and over and still not getting to move on.

I’m sorry what? S3 below core story and s2? S3 below HoT I agree because HoT quality is so hight, but S3 quality was way higher than S2 and personal story. Compare to other mmo S3 below them out of the park.

Some must fight so that all may be free.

The personal story has its flaws, but so does everything that came after it, so it depends on what you like and what you loathe.

Personally, I prefer the PS for its themes and the actual focus on the protagonist. “This is my story” went out the window completely in the Living Story seasons, especially in LS3, in favor of making us spectators to, enablers of and punching bags for all sorts of NPCs wangsting or being oh-so-awesome at us. LS3 also suffers from being extremely bloated with characters and plot hooks that, by and large, are never actually explored in any depth. As much as I disliked much of LS2, at least it undeniably had focus. The only decent aspects of LS3 in my book are some snippets of background lore (kodan in Ep3, the efforts to heal Orr in Ep6).

My ranking would roughly go: PS > HoT as sylvari > HoT as non-sylvari > LS2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LS1/LS3

As you can see, everyone has their own opinion.

I like Season 1 and Season 3. I have high hopes for PoF and Season 4.
