Has anyone else ever asked ANET why they don’t have some sort of way to keep you exactly in a story instance when you disconnect?.. This has happened to me a numerous of times! Random d\c while fighting zhaitan and oh guess what.. I have to start again

Assume you are soloing, if you go in with a team you should be able to rejoin them.
As for why there is no savestate, dunno. Probably some technical reason. I’d suggest going in with at least one other person by asking in map chat, guild chat or using LFG and getting someone to help you with the story.

What makes it even more confusing is that Guild Wars 1 had this. You could lose your connection and have a grace period to log back in and reconnect to your instance.

Personal story instances are not like dungeons or fractals. When the instance is opened party members are invited into the instance. Only those who accept the invite enter the instance and this is the only opportunity to do so. This means that if you DC you are kitten out of luck.

I had a DC during the final phase of “Hearts and Minds” extreme mode, just minutes away from killing Mordremoth after we had spent two hours on it. I couldn’t get back in but my party managed to finish it off. The worst part is that if I had been the host we all would have been kicked out of the instance and lost progress.

Yes Tapi guild wars 1 did, why they would have it in the first game and not the 2nd is new to me, and yeah that’s the best bet from now on i’ll just start waiting to do story missions till people come on.. or people start joining in the story journel section of LFG.
