So I just have two questions about the story line. I’ve been playing since launch and have yet to pay attention to the story, and this play-through I’m actually really getting into. Anyway, I just have a few questions because I feel like I missed a few things.
****SPOILERS****

Why did Trahearne and the main character get so upset over Tonn’s death? Sure his death itself was sad, but they acted like he had been with the pact for sooooo long, when really I felt like he was only in a few episodes of the story. (Please correct me if I’m wrong, I might have overlooked something.) But they said he was my “partner” yet I didn’t see him more than I saw my mentor.

And for my other question, after the Pact discovers the new temple underneath the water in Orr, Trahearne puts in his “favor” from Sayeh, the largos. Anyway, by how Trahearne speaks of her, he makes it sound like “she’s the only one that can do this job” but isn’t she only helping to explore an underwater dungeon? I feel like, since the largos don’t meet with land-walkers much, Trahearne would call in for a better favor than dungeon-exploring.

I just feel like I missed something in both those scenarios. Thanks!

It sounds like Tonn was pretty popular within the Pact, and I remember liking him a lot, between his enthusiasm, optimism, and love of things that go boom. He was only in one story arc, but I was still bummed out when he died. He doesn’t have as much screentime as your Order mentor, but the racial sympathy story arc is even shorter, and I’m still pretty fond of Skritt for it.

Spoiler for Heart of Thorns:

Meeting up with Ceera (Tonn’s widow) in HoT was pretty rough. It’s been three years in-universe since Tonn died, and since I played the mission right after launch, three actual years since I last saw her. I remembered her vaguely, but it wasn’t until she mentioned Tonn that I remembered who she was and why she hated me.

War, man.

As for Sayeh, I don’t think her part of the story ever really worked. Largos are so rare in the game, and so thinly developed, that it’s hard to take any real interest in them, and Sayeh is so “strong and silent” that it’s hard to take much interest in her. She suddenly appears, stands around like a cool person, then drops out of the story.

Tonn wasn’t your long-term partner, but he was your partner on that series of missions. It was his job to obtain and plant the bombs and your job to protect him. Your character is upset because they feel responsible for his death. (This storyline is actually the resolution of the earlier one where the Pale Tree told you that you would have to face your greatest fear.)

Trahearne is upset because he knows how much it affected your character, and possibly because he has known Tonn for a long time, we don’t actually know much about his background but he’s worked with all 3 Orders for some time.

As for Sayeh I think she was the one who found the Temple of Abaddon and alerted Trahearne to the presence of Zhaitan’s minions. She also seems to know a lot about the traps and locks inside, which most people wouldn’t given that it’s been under water for hundreds of years (and was the temple of the god of secrets before that).

Sayeh shows up briefly in another ‘greatest fear’ line (making another suffer). At first she’s unwilling to interfere much in what you’re doing, giving a little information when you’ve ‘proven yourself’ to her but letting you fight on your own. Later she is impressed by your efforts and maybe a little sad about the tragedy, and it flowed nicely into her assisting you in the temple. It seemed more for the pc’s sake and she just happened to know Trahearne.

As for Tonn, I’m surprised no one has pointed out yet that the PC personally sets off the bomb that kills him. I think even if you barely knew them, it would be pretty hard to handle finding out you’d pulled the trigger to kill an ally. And you never know if Tonn signaled knowing he didn’t have time to get out of range, or it was some kind of mistake.
