So, I was doing some exploring in the Straits of Destruction. Just hit 71, wanted to see what this dangerous place had to offer.

Well, I found a place called the Conservatory. There was a shiny chest in the side of the room, and, well, I’m not one to pass off on treasure. Just a few Risen Wizards guarding it, so I’ll just—

OH HEY THORNS EVERYWHERE AND THEY’RE DOING CONSISTANT DAMAGE, CRIPPLING, AND BLEEDING. And they keep coming. While two wizards blast at me.

Later, me and a party of five return to the area to do an event. Not only were the thorns still present, about 10 Risen spawned around us. Needless to say, we all died.

Is there a way to actually survive this area? I mean, there seems to be no safe spot from the constant thorns, and there’s no way to dodge it.

You must be new to Orr, don’t worry we all were once

Orr is filled with nightmarishly bad fights like those, but in your case there is something you can do to make that area easier.

The thorns effect comes from the effects of a statue of (Melandru i think, could be wrong.) which is currently contested. Deeper within Orr you’ll find the Temple of Melandru, which is linked to all the statues of Melandru throughout Orr. If you capture the temple through an event chain, all the Melandru statues throughout Orr will be deactivated until you lose it again. Though you’ll still have to deal with the 10 risen, at least you won’t have to deal with the thorns.

Thanks for the reply. So, have to deactivate the statues in order to survive in places like this. Okay.

Yeah, I was legitimately confused. It seemed like some sort of oversight and, well, I was a bit taken aback from the constant thorns.

Hello everyone.

MasterGeese, thanks for the answer. Since the issue seems solved, we proceed to close the thread.
