Is it just me or is this map screwed? Bugged DEs aside. Everything in here seems 3 times tougher and does triple damage on me, they respawn so fast and block all your paths, all the wps are constantly contested 24hrs. So when I have only off peak hours to play the game, this map is simply impossible, not even trying to cross the straits.

I think my server (Isle of Janthir) has completely given up on this map, as just like you said, every waypoint is always contested. Its so broken for us, its unplayable.

In fact I think all high level areas are like this. group dynamic events pop up here and there when there’s no players, the questing hubs always down with champions that do knockdown combos with groups of minions ganking on you.

The high level areas simply look very unfinished.

Straits is a lot of fun with a small group 2-3, although it’s perfectly possible to solo too, just takes more time. That’s good design I think as it is one of the first areas where you really gain something by playing together for more than just single events (you can then play lots of events back to back and its fast and fun) and it shows that it’s entirely feasible to make open world PvE have a bit more depth. If you don’t like that playstyle, Frostgorge Sound is a 70-80 area that is similar to previous content.

I think both types of content have a place, for different standards of player skill, but maybe Arenanet need some subtle way of directing players into the kind of content they enjoy, since some players don’t seem able to do that for themselves – if you’ve been doing Sparkfly Fen then it’s easy, and seems intended, that you should just go through the gate into straits, whilst Frostgorge Sound is a long way in the opposite direction.

They did say that taking Orr would require massive amounts of players, it’s really not designed for solo questing.

The only thing that bugs me about Orr is that every 5 seconds I hear, “Everyone, come!” and then I get hit and slow down and rage until they stop following me.

I will never play WvW until Map Completion there is removed.

I solo straits malchors and cursed shore all the time on my engineer, because lately I’ve been playing off hours and there’s barely any players.
