This is one area in the game that I actually get mad at. It is a brilliantly designed zone and yet it can’t be enjoyed to it’s fullest as it is a desert, it is a zone clearly designed to be tackled by 40/50+ players and yet it is always deserted and all the invasions fail. I am on Gandara server which is not a low populated server. For about 30-45 minutes I was on the northern invasion and consistently failing the event to take down the flag ship and troop ships which led to me just farming the same 3 events over and over, I think the zone really needs a revamp. Answers I got in Lion’s Arch of why people don’t go there is because ‘it sucks’ ‘no orichalcum nodes’ and ‘low mf from low level goons’. Are these really the reasons why no one goes to this particular area? Do the masses of events not scale up to have champions thus making no one go?

That’s the problem I’m seeing there – not enough people to take the temple, or even group up to take it.

Do you have a guild?

Balthazar is a relatively tough event that takes coordination. It’s good that it’s not constantly tackled. But if you organize groups and announce in LA that you’re taking it, people will show, and it’s very satisfying to pull off.

I am also a huge fan of the rarely-done Zho’Qafa Catacombs daily event. A party of 5 is recommended for this- the Champ abom is likely to give you some trouble until you learn the tricks with dodging him.

There are quite a few open world champs just hanging out to kill as well. I think it’s a great zone, but it’s definitely best while running around with a decent group. You can’t just expect your server to populate every area and present it to you, you gotta take some initiative and make things happen! :-)

I love the hundreds of undead present there

Give a man fire, he will be warm, set a man on fire, he will be warm forever! …or dead…

I agree OP. Same with Malchor’s Leap. At least I was able to finish the map in SoD, but it’s not even possible in ML because of champions protecting skill points, unless I want to guest to a server with certain open areas.

I tried so many times to do some DE in SoD only to be killed over and over as no one is ever there. My only suggestion is to call out on map chat where you are see if anyone responds. Also as person above said, maybe go to LA and post up that you’re going to do a specific event and see if you get some help.

…and is therefore not a brilliantly designed zone. A brilliantly designed zone would be able to handle fluctuations of players at both extremes.

One of the problems is that they’ve made changes to many of the mobs but there has been no change to any of the maps or content to account for those changes. It’s not just skills that need balancing.

Wasn’t this part of the original Manifesto?

“Our goal has always been to make the most fun content in the game the least rewarding so people feel forced to play some other content instead of having fun.”

This was always going to be a problem with Orr split into 3 endgame zones with no communication across them. With two of the zones below level 80 it’s not surprising where the population went. I guess this isn’t going to get fixed since the personal story is heavily tied into Orr and the developers seem unwilling to make any changes to anything related to the personal story.

It would be good if there were herald type people in the pact camps and you could ask what was happening in Orr, with a ‘take me there’ option. That would of course mess up any new player’s exploration of Orr for the first time.

Make all of Orr level 80 and I’m pretty sure Balthazar would be attempted a lot more often since there’s so many mobs to kill and they would be giving t6 mats. Make the invasions (and final push) scale up to champions but make it so res’ing downed pact soldiers brings their morale back up like they did with Warmaster Chan.
