It was disabled a while ago, someone was prolly exploiting again, so you’ll have to wait it out and watch patch notes until it’s enabled again.

Kinda sucks that they allow disabled content items on the AH…
It’s only temp disabled whilst they fix the exploit. I doubt it will disabled for long.
The content was on the TP well before the exploit was discovered and the scavenger hunt disabled. Removing the rock from the TP would have delayed ANet’s ability to deal with the exploit, so it was probably considered an acceptable annoyance under the circumstances.

Well, the understanding I took away from Gayle’s comment was that they disabled it temporarily until they can fix it, and once fixed they will enable it again. So your investment simply results in a delayed ascended ring.
You could try contacting support, explaining the situation, and asking if they would give you the ring in exchange for the destruction of the rock. That would give you the result, but not the experience of completion, if they are agreeable.

Tried this yesterday, got to the point where I have the encrusted ring and I’m at Titan’s Perch and getting the content disabled message.
So you can start it, but I’m stuck on Step 4.
Someone else was having issue with Step 5 as well to convert it into the Ascended Ring.

Shortly after i posted, they disabled it again. Keep an eye on the news announcements subforum – seems thats where they are keeping us up to date on it
