Anyone with a brain? If you haven’t noticed Legendary weapons’ collections also have trophies in them. Trophies you can take around the world to charge, not everything goes to MF.

How could you guess it’s not just a junk item? It has a description ‘humming with magic’ unlike other useless trophies.
My guess is it will become an ascended ring with a new aura infusion in it. The price of the strange rock should go down a bit when the skritt contracts become available again.
It still has a very low drop rate though. The initial supply was there because people didn’t think it was anything valuable and were selling it really cheap.

Ascended ring with 4 stages? Sounds pretty bad to me considering ascended rings are the easiest ascended equipment to get. 99% chance it will be legendary.

That’s some sort of weird overreaction. Do you really expect developers to comment on stuff that they put in the game specifically as part of a discovery? Speculation was already rampant and would have continued, dev comment or not. If the item has an important use to everyone, the price is going to skyrocket regardless of speculation and if it turns out it has only a niche use than the price will plummet.
There’s no need for developers to comment, except to say that the item is working as intended.

Trophies don’t do anything, but that doesn’t mean they’re useless fodder. Trophies are used in collections, the mystic forge and other things. It could end up being nothing, but that’s not a guarantee.
