Just wondering why Anet has never given support to any streamers? I’ve seen a few potential streamers who have been streaming since release, but 2 of my most watched streamers have since quit GW2 because they haven’t seen Arenanet give support to a single streamer. I feel like if they give support to a streamer or two it could help with publicity and popularity of the game, especially for PVP. Koroshi was one of them, but he moved on and is waiting for Wildstar. I just remember the glory days of the Guild Wars 1 and the pvp scene there was booming, but it’s so nonexistent here. Need GvG soon imo

You mean other then promoting them on various internet sites and naming NPCs after them in game?

On the contrary, we support streamers by regularly promoting them on our Facebook page (which has nearly 1M followers) and on Twitter (which has over 228k followers), as well as listing them on our official Twitch TV channel (which has almost 16k subscribers). We give streamers a lot of publicity and recognition, and we’re always looking for new ones to check out.

We also have regularly asked our community for recommendations of streamers they like.

If you have a recommendation, please share. We would love to take a look.

Also: what do you define as “support”?

I have to back up Arena Net and coglin on this one. I’ve noticed quite a few instances of support on both their Facebook and Twitch pages. They’ve been up for awhile now.

Just wondering why Anet has never given support to any streamers?

What kind of support are you looking for? Money, endorsement deals, special treatment?

I’ve seen a few potential streamers who have been streaming since release, but 2 of my most watched streamers have since quit GW2 because they haven’t seen Arenanet give support to a single streamer.

I don’t watch what you watch, could link to me their posts/videos/message where they explicitly state that they’re quitting GW2 because of the lack of streaming support? Also, has it ever occurred to you that people are bound to leave a game and come back later in time?

I feel like if they give support to a streamer or two it could help with publicity and popularity of the game, especially for PVP. Koroshi was one of them, but he moved on and is waiting for Wildstar.

Considering Wildstar is a new MMO, I wouldn’t be surprised that people are flocking to the next game. It happens all the time. Again, what is the support you’re looking for?

I just remember the glory days of the Guild Wars 1 and the pvp scene there was booming, but it’s so nonexistent here. Need GvG soon imo

Glory days of GW1? What does this have anything to do with streaming? Are you telling me that people were streaming back then?

What does the PvP scene of GW1 have to do with anything involving streaming? Do you not remember the monthly flavor builds that got run in the random arenas? Or how about the elitism and snobbery found in Hero’s Ascent and the IWAY builds that were dominant for a LONG time. Perhaps you remember running the gvg matches where almost every team practically had 2 monks, 2 eviscerate warriors with shock, and 4 whatever professions they could cram.

One definition of support would be to name those streamers, here, on these forums.

I don’t do Facebook, or Twitter, and I don’t reference Twitch TV channels unless I come across a useful link, usually on Reddit, but never here.

I come here for useful information. It really is too bad that I continue to be treated like a member of the vocal minority.

So if you do not watch the news or read the newspaper, it is the worlds fault if you do not know what is going on in the world around you??

So if you do not watch the news or read the newspaper, it is the worlds fault if you do not know what is going on in the world around you??

Newspapers are constantly reporting to each other what articles I read, or which advertisements I respond to? To an extent that I simply refuse to buy those newspapers?

Or are you apologizing for the state of the internet today?

It doesn’t matter how much support ANet give them, GW2 (and MMOs in general) are rather boring to watch.

Do you drink a lot when you browse the forums? I was making a new reference using specifically the newspaper and the television, and you make an illogical comment about the internet.

So tell me, how do news papers know or communicate what articles you read? They are made out of wood pulp and slightly inanimate.

Anet has tried supporting the twitch streams. It still sits at 300 viewers unless theres something big going on, and still can only reach a couple thousand.

That is my point, and shows your own lack of knowledge about the internet today. You compared a couple of predatory websites who exist only to track users, with newspapers made from wood pulp and ink.

I don’t do Facebook or Twitter for very good reason and if Anet would like to further support the streamer community they could easily do so, here, on their own forums.

I do not do FB, Twitter or any of them either. My point though, is that you cannot get angry when a company doesn’t advertise news and information outside of the normal networks.

I have never had a social network account of any kind to my knowledge. yet I am well aware of streamers and Anets support for them, that is my point. Between this site, other gaming sites, social media, podcast, and other video game media outlets, it is absolutely 100% your fault, if you are unaware of their support to streamers.

I have a tough time accepting posters comments who speak out of pure ignorance and a full lack of knowledge. To make a post asking why they do not do something, that they very well and very openly do, is to unnecessarily represent a very misinformed negative attitude that you hold against them because you are unaware.

If Arena wants to support their streamers and expose them to us, then they should make room on this site for them.

It is one thing if the players themselves are scattered over 10 different sites and if there are 20 other info sites available for maps, gear, achievements etc etc.

Obviously there is a matter of personal taste and/or the advantage of some different features on other sites, be it feeds or a working search function.

This is not the news and this is not a matter of being personally able to find information, it is a matter of Arena claiming to supporting those people and I personally don’t see that. Because I don’t care to peruse 3-5 different “official” sources from the same company on the same subject just because they don’t unify their stream (no pun intended) of information.

At least their own twitch channel get’s a bit more information in the news feed on the side.

Even maybe a sticky in the linksville section might help a bit. Active streamers/youtubers sorted by topic (if possible).

Make them visible somehow, maybe even their own site under community above.

Edit: This is not meant in a negative way – I simply don’t “see” it which means whatever support there is it could be more effective/visible.

“Whose Kitten is this?” – “It’s a Charr baby.”
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

I kind of thought that was what the entire Fan based content sub forums was for.

The point of exposure, the way I see it in this context, is to reach people that are not actively looking for it. Otherwise I guess you could just say use google(?).

Ok, for example, I know there is a contest going on called “Rock the Nightmare”. There is nothing here, visible for me on this site that easily let’s me navigate to see the entries.

Yes, some post themselves their entries in the fan-based subforum, yes, under the “community” tab there is the main overview site … curiously enough you have to go to the main page first to see that, doesn’t work from the tab on the forum site.

I’m sure it’s out there and I’m sure I would find it, but there is no ease of navigating – no link somewhere that screams “have a look at all the awesome entries from players of our awesome community”.

There could be, in my opinion, more buzz about these things with better exposure.

Just food for thought.

Maybe a news article every couple of weeks or per month – “check out our featured streamers/youtubers” with a link to a persistent page that you can also navigate to through the community tab above.

Maybe simply a sticky in the fan generated section if a specialized page is too much?

What would you propose and how do you see the promotions on the other various websites? If they are comparable/translatable to this format here.

“Whose Kitten is this?” – “It’s a Charr baby.”
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

We drive thousands of viewers every week to our Twitch channel because we host weekly developer livestreams there. Our channel has a rotating list of great community streamers, which you can find here: http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2 Likewise, thousands of people see our posts on Facebook and Twitter, so that information reaches a big potential audience for those streamers as well—an audience that doesn’t necessarily read the forums.

There’ve been several suggestions of maintaining a forum post highlighting community streamers. I’ve discussed this with the team, and they like the idea, so here you go. This post will be updated when possible. Note that this list is not intended to be exhaustive, it’s a curated list of community streamers we want to highlight.

Again, we’re open to your suggestions for streams to check out! You can post your suggestions in this thread. Note that simply suggesting a streamer won’t guarantee that we will promote them, but we will review them. We’re looking for good quality streams that have a regular schedule (ideally a published schedule) and abide by good community standards.

Thanks, everyone!

There are some excellent GW2 streams, I personally like Shinryuku and Ostrigheggs, but they never grow in viewership. These guys deserve way more views than they are getting.
