Subscription
No because paying a monthly fee for a video game is foolish.
I wouldn’t pay a monthly fee for Guild Wars 2. Not because I think that the game is not worthy, I play it more than any other MMO, but because I couldn’t afford a monthly fee.
Nope, not at all.
Money isn`t a problem, but I just don`t think gw2 is worth any sub fee.

Rocking Wizard Wars until this mess of a game is fixed…
The question is kind of moot since this isn’t a subscription game. But, yeah..I’d pay a monthly for it if ANet had of chosen that route.

Absolutely….not.
This game would need a LOT of changes to be worth a monthly fee.
Hell, at this point I have no intention of paying for an expansion.
No, this game needs balance, bug fixes, and more content to be a sub based game.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I’ve said it in other threads like this, but the moment this ever goes subscription (even tiered payments like sub/partial/f2p) I’d uninstall and leave forever.
This game is amazing, truly among the top two mmo’s currently available. But I would not pay a sub for it because I don’t pay a sub for ANY game. It’s a ridiculous extra fee whose only reason for being is profit. Mike O has been saying this for ten years. He knows because he used to work for Blizzard.

50 cents a day is far to much money for something that entertains you for hours!!!
Other than that, this game offers nothing in exchange for a monthly fee.
I don’t rent games.
However, I have purchased a good amount of gems to support ArenaNet, I like that I can show my support when 1) it fits in my budget and 2) I approve of what they are doing with the game.

That sounds a lot like renting to me.
You honestly you can’t budget fourteen dollars and ninety nine cents a month?

No. Renting is when you lose access to your account and characters if you don’t pay a fee that month.
Terrible way to monetize games, gamers got smart and subscription fees are going the way of the dodo.

As are good games, GW2 is an excellent single-player campaign console game. Fancy graphics and no depth.
Edit 15 a month maybe dated, but a lesser fee is great for the game in every aspect. ANet falls short in so many categories simply because they can’t offer what they can’t afford – gems are good for ANet, not for us.

The hundreds of thousands of guilds out there beg to differ with you.

Yeah heaven forbid a company try to make a profit. They should just make the game, sell it until they have recovered the cost it took to make the game and then just give it out for free to everyone else to make sure they don’t profit from it. What company in their right mind would ever want a profit?
I love the Angry Joe review where he goes into a game store and the clerk tries to sell him WoW as best the mmo.
That’ll be $60 then sir.
That’’ll be 15 more dollars by the way
Uh 15 more dollars sir
That’ll be fifteen dollars!
15 dollars…
15 dollars!
Fifteen dollars
$15
That’ll be 15 dollars!
(Angry Joe punches out the clerk’s lights)
I don’t mind paying sub fees, but (as much as i love this game) it’s not worth it to me.

The hundreds of thousands of guilds!! Are we counting every guild that every player makes to have extra storage? Or just the ones that have 3 active players?

Joe just jumped on the bandwagon with TB and Yogs – How many videos does he do of GW2 these days? How many videos does WP do? The hype is flat, Dontain still makes videos – rarely same with MV.

There’s over a million Youtube videos on GW2 – your point?
No game is worth a monthly sub to me, so no.
If an mmorpg has subscription, then the game becomes “Grindfest”.
This is because the developers would be spending more time making grindy recycled contents to keep everyone in the treadmill so more players would be paying to play so they dont fall behind.
ArenaNet opposes this idea and their philosophy is about making the game “Fun” for players to enjoy. In which case, ArenaNet needs to focus on making fun and enjoyable content for lots of players to enjoy instead of grind.
Look at this article posted by ArenaNet regarding that matter:

I have no problem paying a monthly subscription for an MMO…if it is a good game. I currently play Eve Online (and have been for years) and do not mind that it is sub based in the least. GW2 just doesn’t live up to that level of cost.
I might as well pay for a top-notch game like WoW if I’m going to pay a subscription for a game at all. Guild Wars 2 definitely is not worth it if they implement a subscription fee. I barely even pick up Guild Wars 2 now because I get nerfed so much. Besides, I’ve already hit 80 and it got boring from there.
