There is a buy in trading post for almost any other item (including dyes). It would be nice to have a “Buy in trading post” for wardrobe skins so that I could more easily search for items instead of needing to search in TP (Which doesn’t always show correctly.

Or possibly add an option in TP filter for “not yet owned” (would include skins, dyes, minis, ect) so that it would be easier to search items you don’t already have when trying to complete (or work on completing) full wardrobs/minis/ect.

Both would be very welcome additions to the game!

While I do love this idea, one big problem is that the wardrobe tracks the Skin ID’s rather than the item ID’s. Since there’s rarely a one-to-one pairing going from the skin to the item, it would be a heavy load to do a backwards search for all items which have the skin.

An example would be the Krait Battleaxe Skin, which has ten items on the TP, and each of them would need to be found and displayed by the servers.

The best bet at the moment would be to “/wiki [shift+click on wardrobe skin]”, and then do the backwards look-up yourself. It’s not the best solution, but it’s all I’ve got.

That would certainly be more work for ANet, but it would just amount to adding one new look up: search by skin name — essentially, doing what Greener has described above.

I think the more difficult work would be for the User Interface. The right-click menu already gets mighty cluttered now and ANet seems to struggle (sometimes) with keeping the UI simple, easy-to-use, and have all the needed functions.

However, I bet colbymg of GW2 Profits and the author of GW2 efficiency could set up such a feature more easily. You’d have to provide the site with your secure API Key, the site would display the wardrobe, and offer you a chance to click specific skins to show where they could be obtained in-game, which often includes drops, karma vendors, as well as the TP.

Like Greener said, Anet can do this by building an association list of items to skins. But since it’s not as simple as a single dye or mini unlocking one thing, Anet probably will not add this feature. You will have to resort to third party API tools or the wiki.
