Now people do voodoo stuff to get an empty map for an organized events; like jumping to a wp simultaneously, and then using taxis before outsiders fill the map.

There is a need to create an empty map. How? Anyone? Pros? Cons?

I suggest the following:
-An inventory item which creates an empty map for its user; from gem store, expensive
-The map is invitation only; skill 5 could make the map free, but no need to use that
-The skill 1 could give additional invitation rights to the targetted person; they drive the taxis
-Timeout for the map

I tried to think problems like a person gives taxi to friends even it is not wished for; because organizers want their community first. Invitation/taxi driver rights should solve that.

I don’t know how maps works. I also dislike the idea that normal players would always be outside of good maps in big events. But usually they are outside because organizers go to empty map in any case. Normal players may come first, but served badly when all commanders are gone and taxied their people. (Anet says “first come, first served”.)

It’s probably a bad idea to put that kind of power in players hands. What’s to stop people from making hundreds of map instances and overloading the servers? Unless I’m misunderstanding you.

It should be expensive enough.

As to that problem: make every created map closed. Regular players would go to regular maps. If someone pays much for creating a private map and not inviting enough players there, that someone will learn the lesson

Hmm, maybe they could take an idea like this to the Guild Mission’s. they already allow Guilds to Spawn the World Bosses that need many people. Maybe, if a guild is big enough give them the option (for a very large fee of course), to also spawn that dragon in their own instance that they can then invite anyone (guildies or non) to for the encounter.

Maybe it lasts only an hour or two and then no new people can join it (kind of like they are changing how megaservers open and close) but the old people can stay on the map as long as they wish but once everyone is gone the map closes itself.

Interesting idea.

I would like to see this tied into commander tags, and occuring as an option when you have a full Squad (50 players), or large Squad (30 players). This way IF you have enough people to justify creating a new map, you can do it. And (I think map limit is 150) then you would have 50 people available to taxi in the other people (give the map a 2 minute no non taxi join period).

Could implement the WvW queue dialogue box altered to say "You’re commander has opened a new map. Please select to either Join Your Commander or Remain In This Map. Optional cost, but I don’t think it should be so prohibitive. Making it player reliant means that you would need ALOT of people involved to spam open maps.

Or, as a potential method to stop this map being permanently open, make these maps non accessible via entry, only taxi’s.

I’m against it. It’s basically to split community.
Make elite groups even more elite etc.

I like and enjoy the way it all works and being able as an outsider to play with organized groups. I don’t think it will last and people like me will be cast aside so I disagree and vote against.

I think it’s a bad idea, if you give a large playerbase the ability to increase load on the servers (which is what creating new map instances would do) on demand, you’re guaranteed to have people abuse it for no other reason than to grief. It won’t happen all the time, but every now and then everyone will probably suddenly get disconnected when hundreds of new maps suddenly get spawned and despawned in rapid succession, essentially creating an internal DDoS attack that ANet can only deal with by temporarily disabling the feature and manually banning every account involved.
