[Suggestion] Account Anniversaries?
It would be nice but apparently loyalty only matters if you keep a character forever.
It would be a scam for ppl who made characters in order to get perma birthdaybooster

given that you can have 70 toons on your account . you could always buy another toon slot . and then keep one or 2 toons and let them age with the game getting the rewards and so forth . while using your other toon slots to make new toons . as I found this way to be the most easy fix . with that and making new toons all the time
Actually my suggestion is give us something else to do with those level boost scrolls if we don’t plan on having another toon on our account.
Soraya Mayhew – Thief
Melissa Koris – Engie – SF for Life!
Aren’t those achievements based on the account “Birthday”? I’m referring to the ones that give the titles, and most recently, backpack/weapon skins.
Never mind. Just looked it up and saw it was tied to opening your first gift for that specific year. Just request Anet to make those achievements based on the account birthday. I don’t have any issues with it personally as I doubt there are that many players who routinely delete and remake their characters.

You’d be surprised.
I don’t have a problem with the status quo (and it’s why I get new slots rather than re-roll).
I wonder if this implementation is because it’s the easiest, safest way for ANet to trigger the achievement. The game might not have any good way to measure its age outside of measuring the age of the oldest character. That’s a programming choice that might have made sense in 2012, before there was any reason to distinguish the two.
Or in other words, it might simply be a lot harder to change this than it sounds.
When I started playing, I knew I wanted to have 1 of each character class but I didn’t worry about starting my characters right away because I wasn’t familiar with character birthdays. In other MMOs they celebrate your account age, not how long you have had a character. Then, the first year gift wasn’t something to make me worried about my character ages.
I now have friends who knew about character birthdays right from the start and have multiple accounts with multiple characters because of those gifts. I wish I had gotten in on that from the start but that ship has sailed.
I doubt there are that many players who routinely delete and remake their characters.

Its not….. its a tradition from Guildwars 1. The problem here is that the Birthday gifts served a different purpose in the first game.
https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Birthday_Present
Minis in the first game were prestige/fun items gotten mainly through birthday presents….. and were freely traded (as were the minis in GW2 before wardrobe). Common pets (one that lacked trade value) were often given away to newer players, so they can have their own to play with.
Because Guildwars 2 heavily drives a collection habit, on top of selling Minis for Gems, random minis must had been seen as a threat to the Gemstore. So instead, we got a bunch of fixed gifts so each character had their own set. (Keep in mind, this was back when everything was per character tracked)
However, that partly changed on Year 3, when they introduced “choosy” dye packs to combat the problem in the dye market started in the wake of the Wardrobe update. Including high end dyes seemed counter intuitive at first… but it actually does a good job of getting players to start exploring dye options (and thus interest in newer dye kits) to go hand in hand with the Outfit sales.
What they really need to do is make the experience scrolls stack, or the ability to trade them for some kind of wardrobe item.
The character birthday is one reason I don’t delete as many characters as I otherwise would. The leveling process isn’t terribly bad, so aside from having to obtain HPs again and to remap things, remaking a character when I’m tired of her and want something new would be very appealing. If they were to change this, I think it would have to go by character slot instead of actual character? But then of course you can’t delete and remake for a new set of birthday gifts (if you wanted to wait the years to get them).

Yeah, that’s another thing. I’d even just be happy with the achievements being account-based. I’ve played and supported this game from the start, and I feel like that should be tangibly acknowledged in some way.
(Also, I did try to restore my original character, on a guildmate’s suggestion, but the character was too old.)
The game might not have any good way to measure its age outside of measuring the age of the oldest character.
I cannot speak for how difficult an account-based system would be to implement, but the /age function tells you your account age in the second line, “Across all characters, you have played for X hours Y minutes over the past Z days.”, although that is likely based on when the first character is created.

In what way would anything I suggested be a scam for anyone?
