I do not understand how this would affect leveling alts with crafting or how it would in any way change the prices of tier 1 – 4 mats. I might have been a bit unclear, but i meant recipes from recipe sheets only, not ones that you discover.

Then you should edit your OP.

The OP is fine, and clear, I don’t see a need for editing it. I do agree that I would like to see recipes that are account unlocked. I would just go ahead and unlock the inscription on the second character so there is no need for switching.

Yeah. Really. ^^ This, what you wrote, makes absolutely no sense at all. How would unlocking recipes account-wide “say goodbye to leveling your alts via crafting”?
There’s some sort of leap of logic that I am missing here. Please elucidate.
I would love to have the recipes unlocked on all my toons. When I first started playing the game I bought a lot of recipes thinking they worked like that, and a bunch of them are for things that toon is not leveled towards.
And Wanze, I also don’t understand how unlocking a recipe makes the materials for it less valuable, care to explain further? I mean, your toon still needs to reach the same level to use the recipe regardless if he knows it or not.
What i think Wanze means is that you won’t get the exp from unlocking recipes, but he misunderstood my suggestion entierly, as i don’t want it to work that way
You’re talking about say, needing to only buy Zojja’s inscription once and all your weapon makers have access to it, or buy Zojjas insignia once and all your armor makers can use it? I could go with that (though if they change this, I’d be demanding a few refunds)
I’d say you still need to buy the patterns though, since zojjas light gloves and zojjas medium gloves (for example) aren’t the same thing. Now if you have say 2 tailors at 500, I could see having the pattern unlocked on both in that instance. (but why would you bother leveling a duplicate to 500?)
Still though, I don’t find it to be that big a deal to make the the inscription (weaponsmith) or insignia (tailor) on the chars that have them, and just stick them in my vault for the others to use.

It makes perfect sense. Discovering recipes gives the best crafting exp. But if you already discovered the lets say darksteel berserkers inscription on your weaponsmith, you wont be able to get discovery exp for it anymore, if you want to level your huntsman.
You also dont get discovery exp anymore, if you level weaponsmithing on an alt.
Well, the OP already clarified that he only meant recipes learned with recipe sheets, not via discovery.

Except you can’t discover inscriptions.
If you think about it a little harder, the impact here is limited. The only recipes duplicated across professions are Insignias, Inscriptions, and (maybe) Runes and Sigils. The former two are learned automatically or via recipe sheet, and are never discovered. The latter tend to be unique to a discipline.
The failing occurs in that you won’t ever be able to rediscover a combination if you make the same crafting discipline on an alt, which as I understand, is a popular way to level up.
I seem to recall posting this before.

Yeah, youre right. However, the point about craft leveling alts still stands.

Why are you guys nitpicking what Wanze said? He clearly misunderstood the OP and clarified his stance. Let it go and discuss the topic at hand.

Because everybody loves to pick a nit (me included).
The OP never changed his title or edited his OP that he only meant recipes learned through sheets, not the ones learned through discovery.
To get back on topic:
I hope they will never do that. Why? because I have tens of thousands of recipe sheets in my vaults that I intend to sell for tens of thousands of gold.
Why I think Anet will not implement this?
Many people keep some alts for the sole reason because they learned some expensive recipes with them they dont want to pay for on another character. If those recipes become account bound, those alts will be deleted and those accounts wont be buying more character slots for some time.
However, I really hate when people bring up the arguement that Anet will not implement something just because they potentially lose gem sales through it because they proved on several occasions that this is not true.
The wardrobe and the wallet being good examples. So I am half expecting this feature to be implemented at some point because i can see the QoL in it.
