Suggestion: Add bestiary to Journal
I played a game called atlantica online. I love the way bestiary journal work there.
You can actually trade your bestiary. I think it is a great idea, if people killed a monster you have x% on gaining the bestiary in the journal. On top of that you can trade a few bestiary journal everyday, kind of like dailys. would be fun.
I am a sucker for flavor text, so yeah, a bestiary would be nice.

It would be nice, but how would you like it to work? Keeping track of what particular monsters you’ve killed would be bad, as that’s more information than they’re willing to add to each character (see: Ranger pet names being forgotten).
If it worked off of the Slayer achievements, then it would unlock for all of your characters at the same time. I’m not sure if that’s something you’d want though.
Is there a good way to make it work for each character, without adding a lot of data to each of them?
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Thought this would be a cool idea to add in the game so that we can understand the enemies we encounter in the game, either gameplay wise, or lore wise.
Very cool idea. +1

I’d like to say: if you kill 20 of a particular monster, it’s there that the bestiary will give elaborate information about the monster. Putting it like that, yeah I suppose tying it in to a slayer achievement would be the best thing to give it.
It’s a nice suggestion and I’ve personally been suggesting it on and off for a while now. However ANet doesn’t seem all that interested honestly. But I don’t know why. Most of it would basically just be selective copy pasting from the internal wiki and I (suspect but don’t really know) that implementing the interface wouldn’t be that difficult.
I like the way Final Fantasy XII handles their bestiary.
- When you kill a monster, it’s added with some flavor text
- Kill X more, you get another page about the monster or something in relation to it
- Kill X more, get another page etc.
In GW2 it could work that when you kill a creature for the first time, it’s added, without flavor text, to the bestiary.
- X more kills, you get flavor text
- X more kills for background information like habitat, food consumption, natural enemies etc.
- X more kills for common drop information
- X more kills for rare drop information
Seems like a lot of work but it would drive me, a WvW player, back to PvE to slay each and every creature out there!
