[Suggestion] Add visual effect to Waypoint teleport! o.o
o.o o.o o.o o.o o.o o.o o.o o.o o.o o.o o.o o.o
Well, I don’t really think that’s a priority here. I guess it would be a nice extra, but not necessary, imo.
there is a waypoint teleport animation if they arrive at a waypoint though.
it would be nice to have one exiting animation too.
when we
- use a waypoint to go somewhere
- enter the heart of the mist
- enter WvW / EotM

Yes, I mentioned it. It’s strange that devs made one part and forgot about the other o.O
It would be nice to have any animation like a pillar of light from the sky to the place where character is. Absolutely any sign, even simple one
pillar of light from the skies would be nice,
if not, a simple one like star trek beam me up effect might suffice as well?
As a player who is driven by aesthetics, I can say that I always found this same thing irritating and really immersion-breaking.
Both appearing-disappearing players and monsters/bodies should at least have a short fade-out effect, but preferably – a light appealing particle effect that can be turned off in options for players on weak PCs.

Yeah, it would be amazing. One of the little details that reminds that you are still in the game but at the same time makes it more believable to. I know it’s stupid, but it makes sense for me xD
Who lives at the bottom under the sea? This thread -.-
Some white astral illuminating light around your character’s body would be enough.
Considering that it is techology, asuran technology, i would prefer that it was a de-moleculation, where bits and pieces disappear (like tha SAB pieces) from a random part, kind of how Nia disappeared:

Actually scratch that, seeing someone disappear like that would remind me of that scene everytime and make me sad

Did you ever see in real life people just dissapear in the air?
I never saw people teleport either.

I never saw video games. What, what..
Did you watch the video? It looks very strange and eye hurting for me.
Imagine if you use instant teleport device, there should something happen when you use this asuran technology, even fast sound of collapsing space for example if you disappear without any visual effect. Do you remember how loud the sound of asuran portals and waypoints is? They would be completely silent if the asuran technology was so perfect to teleport you anywhere without a trace at any time you wish, but they aren’t. The sound of portals is able to hear even when you are far away from them, remembering how hard they work. So I think in the terms of this game any visual effect definitely should be ^^
Maybe I want too much -.-

@ferr.6403 It’s video game logic. It’d be much more jarring and annoying if we heard the whole zerg leave.

But I’m not asking for the sound, just <small> graphical effect to make it more fitting to the game. o.O

and we don’t need any extra visual effects for waypointing.
An effect like the Bifrost from Thor would be sick ^.^
It’s not really necessary though, Anet has bigger things to do.

They could then sell custom teleport animations to justify such an implementation. Burst of light, sucked into the ground. Yeah not my idea, one other game has done it and quite successfuly might i add.
Since you used the term Zerg, I’d rather not waste server resources on something like this for WvW.
there is already tp animation in game. im talking about fotm.
Have it similar to the Skill Point acquiring animation

It’s fitting as is. No matter how small it is, we’d still get it constantly all around the cities and that would be incredibly annoying. It’s a good idea, but if it happened it would be used so much it would just become annoying.

Server resources? For an animation?
No, the server is not streaming video to your PC. It’s your GPU and CPU which do all the visual.

Fitting for you, annoying for me. I do not like people disappearing, you do not like people porting in a small ray of light. I pay, you pay. Who’s right? The dev who puts in an animation which can be turned off in visual settings.
Visual effect should be the same as a flashbang grenade from Counter Strike.
