I’ll cut right to the chase, it would be amazing and extremely useful if we could get advanced graphics options for the game. Not only would it help gamers get the most out of their FPS, but also it would cater to a bunch of us who prefer to customize the look of the game further.

My suggestions:

- View distance slider - The fog is eating up the beautiful world you guys crafted. Let us see just how far that beauty stretches! Say no to air pollution!

- Separate post processing options (Sun rays, bloom, ambient lighting etc.) – It really sucks that these options are locked behind presets. I hate bloom and color correction, but love sun rays for instance. Let us select what we like the best.

- Particle effects slider - the current system is not working so well, but this might change soon with the feature pack, still, listed.

- More anti aliasing options - I don’t like edgies, but I don’t like my game looking blurry and washed out either. If injectors can do it, so can you anet.

- Advanced camera settings - Already listed in the camera thread, but posting them here as it would be great to have them as well: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-player-camera-improvements/first#post4340639

Now I am not saying that you have to change the current settings if you are afraid that non tech savvy people might get confused. Just give us a separate window like most games do, that we can access from an “Advanced options” button in the options menu.

Bonus suggestion: High resolution (2-4k) character and weapon textures as an optional download. It would be amazing if you guys did not purge them after compressing them to “game rez”. Some people would love this, I am among them. Not necessarily on topic, but just trowing it out there.

You seem to know a thing or two about standard video game graphics options, but I think you underestimate the amount of effort it would take to implement these features in a several years old graphics engine that may have been developed by people no longer at the company. They can’t just throw a slider in for view distance and call it a day if their engine can’t handle more view distance efficiently. They can’t just split up the post processing options if they didn’t design the engine for doing them independently. Etc.

Granted, I’m not a graphics programmer, but I’m quite certain the reason these features are not in the game is that ANet simply does not have the resources to invest any further in developing a perfectly acceptable graphics engine.

Still, they’re pretty good suggestions. I just don’t think they’re ever going to touch that part of the game again, and that’s probably for the best.

I never claimed that it would be easy to do, or possible – its just something that I, and a bunch of my friends playing the game would like to see – glad to see that you like my suggestions as well

Having worked in the industry and having experience with engines from modding, most of them handle each option separately. I am almost certain that post processing can be split. The same applies for particle effects (as a system is already there), and the camera – but I am not so sure about distance fog, as that could be something unique to every map, and the anti aliasing options, as they could be tied to the renderer. In any case, w/o going into detail – these are just suggestions and nothing more. It would be amazing if a developer came in and pitched in what is possible and what not, and why

If you read my initial post you will see that I have actually mentioned injectors.

Problem with injectors is that they are simply what the name suggest – graphic effect injectors. You can add certain neat little effects OVER an existing image. It may used to add some decent AA into the game, true, but besides that and a few post process filters, it really does not do all that much in regards to the things I’ve listed.
