[Suggestion] Armor/Outfit gender option.
I would love to be able to have the male versions of Phalanx and heavy Aetherblade armors on my female characters. The discrepency between the male and female versions is so vast it really should be optional.
Totally agree with this, the Charr version of the new skirt outfit is awful because they have two holes on the front for nothing, I want the option to choose. If not at least make adaptations in the races because it should not be the same. The gender lock makes no sense and I hate that, I choose Charr to avoid this.

Agree… they are soooo different …
Far asura/charr..using ,ale/female outfits shouldnt matter too much.. although dont female charrs have a waist? (more noticeable than their male counterpart? ).
I think the problem in human/norn/and even sylvari is the character bodies between male/female are very different …
and idk, if its paticularly “fair” to have a ‘choice’ version for asura/charr, and not other races. idk.

I would dearly love the choice of picking, without detriment or cost to me, what "gender" armour my characters wear. Excellent idea, Grizzly.
And more trousers and full skirts for all who wish them!
Also, I remember this from Faowri, which is similar to your thoughts: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/suggestions/Gendered-armour-splits-design-maxims/first#post3393088
While I agree and want the option for female toons to use some of the male armors (male heavy phalanx at least), I cringe at the thought of seeing male human light classes in the female starting armor (you know there would be someone who runs around in it).
Please give us a keyring…

I say, let them! If male characters want to wear female skirt outfits, more power to them! I would love to see a bunch of males wearing beautiful gowns. It’s only fair because I want my female toons to wear some of the terrific trousers that only males get and I want my females to have actual armor coverage. Equality in armor!

So? I cringe at that on female as well. If a guy wants to run around looking like an idiot in high heels and ribbons to, why not?

I think I could endorse this option. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ve EVER seen this in another game. Having this option would be pretty unique!
I would just love that newer stuff to have more gender options- modesty vs less so much. As well as the fact to have clothing reflect the setting better, as well as function of the armor.

I would definitely like to see this. Especially the option for non-charr/asura females to wear the male versions of armor like Flamewrath, Pit Fighter, Gladiator, and Scallywag armors!
And males to wear all the awesome leg/shoulder/belly-exposing female armors.
I am in LOVE with this suggestion! It’d also be super fitting given the overall climate for gender accommodation in society today (see: Facebook adding non-binary gender options for its users’ profiles, etc.) AND hell, it’s just too practical, creative and useful!!!
I play a male sylvari mesmer, but I try my best to somewhat toy with his physical gender. He looks really good in lilacs, but I’ve always wanted some of the crop-tops and such to expose his midriff, and… Really, this just opens up so many more customizable options, it should truly be implemented.
You’ll notice that Charr and Asura female bodies are simply slimmer versions of their male counterparts, but with comparable proportions, that’s why they use the same armor models. Human, norn, and silvari would actually require male and female armors to have their meshes heavily tweaked to avoid really bad texture stretching/scrunching issues.
It’s about as unlikely to happen as all armor skins being made available for all weights; it’s too much work to go back and update all the meshes and doubles the number of meshes (and possibly textures) in game, which will make loading times even worse.
This would actually be an interesting system if it could work technically. If you could choose for each armor piece then people would be able to make all sorts of weird and wonderful combinations!
I’m sure it would be quite a lot of work though, so if it was ever to happen, i’d expect it to be in a ‘feature pack’ style release.

I only mean the really short skirt armor. Thats what I don’t really want to see. More power to the player that would want to run around in that though. Either way, if they add it for the females to wear male versions, they’d would need to add the reverse. I do wish something like this suggestion happens at some point.

just allow toggle an under armor shirt/pant for female already good enough imo. And for the incoming armor design stick to the princple that male/female version being consistant.
As someone who fiercely hates gendered armor, I want nothing more than the ability to wear all those flat-out better — in terms of design/theme, practicality and kickbuttitude (if that’s not a word, it needs to be one) — male armors. It’s beyond ridiculous when something that looks very well-themed and impressive on a guy turns into yet another inane hooker outfit on a woman.
