I was goofing around looking over skins when I stumbled upon the Nightfury shoulder skin (bats flying around you), which I had completely forgotten about, and thought that the concept could be awesome if used on backpacks.
Personally I would never use Nightfury for the one reason that it has no visible shoulder armor, but if the same concept was used on backpacks (which most players already hide anyway, except a few like legendary wings, etc), no armor skin have to be removed to make place for an effect.

Personally I would love – and gladly pay – to have a backpack skin making the same kind of effects as when you are at a contested temple in Orr – thin green mist from the whole body or swirling black mist, and so on and so forth.
The effect skins could come in color variations as it has been seen before, or maybe in the future made dye-able – though it is not possible at the time, one can hope.

(And if this would better fit in another thread I apologize, but i was not able to find one. I won’t talk about the search engine as that has threads of it’s own already.)

Do most players hide their backpack?

I see a lot of them around (we were joking during one of the Ley Line Anomaly events earlier today that every other person seemed to have the Fractal Legendary Backpack) and there’s frequently topics from people asking for a way to hide everyone else’s backpacks because they see so many of them and they can sometimes get in the way.

I have to admit I have no idea how many players hide their shoulder armour. I know I do on almost all of my characters. The exception being certain heavy armour ones which don’t look right otherwise.

I would definitely consider having to choose between a backpack and an effect like Nightfury or Winter’s Presence a poor choice, I would much rather have both.

Personally I think the best choice would be to have a separate slot where effects like this go, instead of having to replace an armour piece. But that seems unlikely to happen at this point.

I will have to say I hide the Shoulder Armor on more characters than I hide Backpacks. I have lots of great back-pieces.

And..what about Shields? Would the Effect hide the Shield or vice-versa?
