With the introduction of the ascended weapons/armor people soon found out that the ascended materials were getting out of hand.
Refining them was somewhat costly and seemed useless since there are not that many refined mats you need for the actual weapons or armor (making all of them aside, not many will do so)

Why not introduce a weaponset tied to each material?
requiring about 20-25 bricks/ores/stars and some other mats
Example:
25 Dragonite Ore
10 Orichalcum Axe Blades
10 Ancient Hafts
30 Crystals
Makes you a Dragonite Cleaver of the exotic tier.

Dragonite weapons
Yellow crystalline blades with golden hafts and ornate filligree

Empyreal weapons
Composed of the blue/purple see-through crystals that make up the star (the Star itself is a lovely design for a shield or focus).

Bloodstone weapons
Deep red polished stone weapons with runes and veins on them (is that blood that runs through them?)

So,
3 new weapon sets with attached collection \o/
No more filled up banks, alts and invertories \o/
Not too hard to aquire \o/
Not too expensive \o/

seems like a win win win win to me…

Ps: if anything like this has been suggested before (which seems natural), I couldn’t find it (fix search please) and why isn’t this ingame yet?! :P

I expect them to probably play a part in the ‘craftable’ precursors for legendarys at some point .

Some mystic forge recipes would be nice. I can imagine something like Inuyasha’s sword, looks normal until you use it when it turns into a glowing red BFS.

A pretty simple sink for ascended mats would be to make the skins of ascended weapons (there are many of these), but with only rare/exotic stats and at a fraction of the price. I quite like the Calcite Antique skins, but I’m not going to spend the gold to make a binch of Apothecary’s ascended weapons just for the skins.
