First of all, I’m not talking about discovery recipes. I mean the recipes I can buy with karma, gold, laurels.

Stuff, like ascended weapons and armors, specially insciptions and insignias.

Because of the current system I force all the inscriptions and insignias in my thief, and have to switch characters everytime Im going to craft something else like heavy/light armor.

I know I’m just being lazy, but switching between two different toons to craft a single weapon is getting on my nevers lately .

Another suggestion since this didnt seem to take interest.

At the very least, make the description tell me if another one of my characters already know the recipes.

I like these suggestions, and I would also include recipes that come out of chests. I have “lost” recipes in the past because I accidentally double-clicked on them with a character that did not have that crafting discipline. I’ve had to start keeping lists of recipes known and not known by each of my characters so when one of the others comes across a recipe I know whether I need to put it in the bank, try to sell it on the TP, or just destroy it.

Making these recipes account unlocks and showing me whether any character already knows the recipe would solve a lot of problems.

Definitive yes to account-wide recipe unlock; I’ve deleted alts I never used only to suddenly remember it had one of the recipes for crafting legendary gifts. 10g down the drain…

Seeing as I can swap between any crafting professions for a gold cost, and always have 2-3 active ones, there’s no reason why I couldn’t just unlock all recipes on one character and have it apply to my whole account.

Good suggestion, OP!

Yeah I know the feeling. I have "lost"some expensive recipes with my main char. Now I can’t use them, because there is no way in hell that I’ll lvl e profession, that I have maxed on other char, just for a recipe.
Pls Anet fix this mess.

Or just make them unusable if your character don’t have the respective profession.

This is an important step in The Path to Unlocks.

At the very least ascended and legendary recipes and recipes that can only be obtained once or that are very rare drops should be unlocked account bound.

I would go as far as making it so when you learn a recipe with a character, it becomes available to learn for all other characters.

They’ll appear with a different color currently unused for the lists (e.g.: Legendary purple, ascended pink) on all recipe lists of all characters on their corresponding disciplines. And when you click the recipe, the appearance will be different depending on the type of recipe:

  • Ascended, legendary, bulk recipes (armor containers, utility stations, food trays, etc) and exceptionally rare or grindy recipes: The recipe is ready to use, already learned. It loses the different color after the first time it’s clicked to view the recipe’s panel.
  • Discoverable recipes: It loses the different color the first time it’s crated. They also give the discovery bonus the first time it’s crafted, making it easier to rediscover recipes already discovered by other characters, as you can use the panel instead going to the discovery panel and go strain your hands with the clickity click, and you’ll know which ingredients you are missing.
  • Rest of recipes that are account bound or soul bound and cost karma, coin or other small costs, like those from merchants that pop after events and those from renown hearts: The panel will show a cost for the character to learn it. Generally a bit more karma or coin than going to the NPC that sells them, like 430 karma instead 395 and 2.5 silver instead 1.80 and things like that. The different color is lost when learned.
  • Rest of recipes that are tradable: There should be a cost to learn them, but also a button to open the trading post and search for them. The cost will generally be high. So buying them in the trading post may be cheaper, for example: 1 gold in the panel vs 10 silver in the trading post for a sinister weapon recipe. This is to keep both prices down when it’s cheaper in the panel and drops sold in the trading post relevant so people just don’t pay on the panel. The different color is lost when learned.

Also, an additional filter would be added at the top: “Recipes not yet learned”. Disable this filter to hide all the recipes unlocked for the account but not known by the current character.

I second Mithran’s notion. It would save time, money, and a massive amount of frustration.
