With the introduction of Megaserver, Way Point costs will become a real issue, as many of them will be contested by default until we are in the same map. that will forces us to reteleport and increase costs. Gold sink are a good way to fight inflation prices but it penalizes only explorers and most PvE players.

Inflation has 2 main factors, the increase of gold in game and speculation.
To reduce the amount of gold ingame, Gold sinks are good, but there are many of them (crafting, Gem buying, Mystic Forge,…)
To fight against speculation, taxes are good, but right now, taxes are only paid by sellers. Buyers should start to pay a tax when they invest more than 100 Gold per month on the Trading Post. A double-tax could be implemented when you reach 500 Gold invested per month. On every first day of the month, the counter resets.

With this new tax in place, we could get rid of Way Point Costs and that would be facilitating playing with friends. On a side effect, that would make spikes in prices on short term less frequent which is always good for economy and players.

Would you approve this kind of change ?

No. Not even you would approve of this kind of change once you start realizing how expensive top-tier gear is. I’ve already spent roughly 250 gold on JUST the insignia required for my guardian’s ascended set. Not to mention I’ve gone through at least that much more gold on the other materials required. And this is for a heavy set. A light set is going to be nightmarishly expensive compared to it.

Bad idea, all you would be doing is punishing those who buy often or spend a lot on the TP. Waypoint costs are cheap, heck it only takes and event or 3 at most to cover any waypoint cost.

Don’t forget people are going to have to pay for new traits if they don’t want to work for them so any extra taxes would be just MORE or a burden for some people.

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

You made a good point, but numbers are not fixed in stone, it could be a tax based on quantity of items, when you buy more than 1000 items in a month.

You clearly havent discovered the sheer quantity of resources required for an ascended set then.
Here’s just the raw materials (ones you’ll later refine) alone for a heavy ascended set:
1000 Wool scraps
500 cotton scraps
1000 linen scraps
7500 silk scraps
70 gossamar scraps
960 iron ore
480 iron ore (for steel)
650 platinum ore
1600 mithril ore

That alone is roughly 13 thousand items. An ascended LIGHT set requires nearly 11 thousand silk scraps.

I would say it is a nice way to keep people occupied a bit longer until they get their ascended armor sets. As far as i know this was the way it was thought.

So +1 for this idea

If I’m buying materials for ascended crafting, I’m already paying a premium on the market. And that’s mostly because I dont see how it’s possible to farm 300 silk scraps a day in addition to all the other materials necessary. Not and have fun as well at least. Keep in mind that’s also roughly 150g off the market for only one of the materials listed. Introducing a buyer’s tax is not a good way to go about it. There’s already selling taxes on the TP, so go take a whack at those instead. Better to drain money out of the pockets belonging to those who already have deep pockets and can afford the tax.

for the love of God.. no more Taxes… All it does is hurt the “poor man” the rich will stay rich because they have already gathered enough gold to last them a lifetime from the ridiculous champ bag farm Anet introduced (yes.. . by creating champ bags with so much silver and items in them from every champ going) ! Sorry, I do not believe this is a good idea. I’ve never, ever, struggled with waypoint costs, and with the fact that repair costs are now about to be a thing of the past, if you’re still struggling with waypoint costs – then you have deeper issues.
