I have both the Captain’s Airship Pass and the Royal Terrace in Divinities reach, but I only ever use the Royal Terrace, simply because it is aesthetically more pleasing, and also more convenient, being that it is directly in a city.

To make the Captain’s Airship more interesting, and more fun to use, what if the airship actually traveled and was in a new location every day? That could be a real fun way to revisit places of Tyria that maybe we haven’t been to in a while. Maybe it could favor a region that is part of one of the many dailies.

Thoughts?

The thing is, it’s not an actual airship. It’s no more an airship than the Royal Terrace is. Both are structures that are part of the map they’re in. They would need to remake Gendarren Fields to be a map without it and remake the map it goes to to be a map with it. It’s an interesting idea but I don’t see them remaking all the maps to have versions of airship maps and be switching between the airship and no airship maps daily.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

There are other ways they could handle it. During earlier festivals (and scarlet invasions), we had airships showing up to various locations. I love the idea of a traveling airship that would visit various locations in Tyria.

Still, it would be expensive in terms of design, rendering, testing, and maintenance. I’m not sure it’s a more worthwhile idea than lots of others that involve the same ANet staff.

Yah they had airships showing up in various places but they had to do an update to put those airships in, and presumably rework the maps for each.

Another point is that the Pass seems to work as a pocket waypoint. This would mean that the the Pass would need to be reworked to make the pocket waypoint that now works for one spot in Gendarren fields work instead on a different map location each day.

I agree that it looks like a lot of work and I would prefer them to put the Devs to work in new content rather than what it would take to do this.

I can definitely understand traveling airships being a lot of work … especially if they were pilot-able by players. But wow that’s fun to think about!

- after several achievements you can craft/purchase an airship, which only you can fly. & your guildies/party members can board the airship & man the cannons.
… ya, that would be a lot of work. … maybe a very distant, high acheiving option for a secondary type of WvW / PvP – “Airship Battles!”

…back to the original idea, is it possible to make a miniature map that you can enter? Accessible by a “floating moving portal” that looks like an airship?
Once inside the miniature airship map you can explore the ship, role play & play little games (like Tyrian chess) with other players there. … & when you hit “M” you will not see the tiny airship layout but instead your map icon floating accross the big map of tyria. … so if you jump out of the tiny airship instance map, you will fall or glide down into the ground level map the tiny airship map was floating over. … ya, lots & lots of work.
I was just letting my brain go crazy with the idea.

(lol I’ve been trying for a long time to get my husband to join me on GW2, but its just not his style of game. But if there is a chance that he might be able to actually pilot an aircraft, anywhere he wants in the “sky map”, he might be more apt to trying it.)

lol, can we at least have airship “decorations” to build/put in our guild halls? Like the choppers? So we can have more than 1 airship in the Precipice hall & finally add some to the guilded hall? haha I’m sure there’s a reason why airships are not decoration options for guild halls. But it would totally be awesome though. (I’m a huge fan of aviation stuffs) 8B
