Suggestion: Character Save/Copy
Uh yeah, that will come along with the build save/ load options.. never.
Really? I strive to NOT make my characters look the same, and I have 36 so far, at least half of them humans. Still, being able to save the settings would be nice so you can go through them all, save, then go back and tweak knowing you could return to a previous look easily.
I wouldn’t mind a save — sometimes I design but don’t make a character, for example I have a number of Revenant concepts, and then there were the betas where I made characters whose looks I liked and wanted to recreate them in live — but there is a way.
Screenshot all the sliders before you hit the button to take the character into game, then screenshot them again with a makeover kit as the kit settings are in different places from the creation ones. This doesn’t help if you do worry about it to the micrometer, and I will admit that my ruggedly handsome male human rev from the first beta looks rather thuggish in his name placeholder so I must have slid a couple of settings slightly off. But it works far better than trying to just remember how you designed the alt.

I LOVE that idea! <3

All are welcome!
I’d like this feature too, I also often design characters without committing to creating them. I know at least a few other MMOs let players save appearance data (B&S, FF14).
It’s also useful being able to save multiple appearances while I’m creating a character so I can toggle between different saved presets to get a better idea of which appearance looks best before I make the character.
Sorry for bumping a year-old thread but I was googling to see if I could find anything about this feature in GW2 and this thread came up first so I wanted to add my vote to it!
I saw that apparently it was actually a feature during one of the beta weekends? Now with the new expansion and with so many more customization options, I spend more time now trying out different looks and it’d be great to look back and forth between different appearance presets.
Wanted to add too that the aesthetician was a GREAT new feature that I was super happy about, being able to save appearances would go really well with that!
If I want to recreate one of my characters I simply go to the aesthetician, screencap all of the slider pages, and then tab between GW2 and Screenshots while in Character Customization. Done, simple, and no one had to create a program.
Yeah, FLEURs way is the way to go, and it doesn’t take a lot of time.
I end up with imagery and results like in the attachment. Left side for my main – I’m one of those weird guys simply recoloring their main to match the profession (kinda). Right side to share some “Rytlock” config.
It’s not really hard to copy those slider values back – the line has rough spots which make it easy to recognize where it exactly is placed – and clicking the left and right areas of the thumb adjusts it by exactly 1 pixel if you wanna go uber-exact.
