Suggestion: Crafting Conduit
Not that I’m trying to tear down the idea right away, but what purpose would this serve? ANet would have to make it unusable in WvW, or it defeats the whole purpose of removing crafting stations from WvW in the first place.
It does not need to be usable in WvW. Many items are not usable so there should be a standard system in place to prevent it.
Well if they made this, why would it defeat the purpose of removing it from WvW? If someone has this, they don’t need to go to WvW to use a crafting station; they can just use it wherever they are.
If it worked like a true crafting station it sure would put a dent in demand for the permanent banker since people could use it to access the bank as well.
I am sure people thought that about the mystic conduit before it was available in game instead of just from chests.
Simple answer: They need to sell terrace/airship passes.
The answer they gave us for not adding crafting to halls was that they didn’t want to make cities obsolete. Despite the fact that they sell gem store items that literally make cities obsolete.
The reasoning here is clear. They removed crafting from WvW because, like the obsidian sanctum being part of EBG, or people using borderlands for “dueling” and “GvG” created population cap/balance issues.
It is important to anet that some part of the game requires you to inconveniently load in to a major hub. It is important to them that that hub is laid out in an inconvenient manner in order to sell gem store passes for more conveniently designed members only areas.
Crafting is the last piece of the “must go to town” puzzle, so they can’t take the brakes off. This is why they removed the inventory based crafting benches from the guild commendation trader with the launch of HoT, because HoT made it easier to gain commendations, and they don’t want crafting to be convenient.
This was already in the game at one point. They removed it as they added guild halls just to make sure crafting was inconvenient.
You know. To sell passes.

Since the incredible convenience of WvW crafting has been removed how about adding a conduit like the Mystic Forge Conduit?
Love the idea.
I imagine, however, that it’s something that would take 3-6 months (minimum) to deliver, even if ANet jumped on board today and prioritized its implementation.
If it’s a super-conduit (all crafts), I’d also want to buy a new shared-inventory slot for it. If unshared, I can’t imagine wanting to take up 6-7 slots on my shared bar.
what purpose would this serve?
I like being able to use a “parked toon” to craft, without forcing them to retrace their steps back to their parking spot.
ANet would have to make it unusable in WvW, or it defeats the whole purpose of removing crafting stations from WvW in the first place.
How so? The reason they removed the stations was because people queued up to WvW to use them — people who wouldn’t otherwise go to WvW. If these were added, owners would have zero need to visit WvW, even if the crafting stations were restored.
They could somehow tie it into the current permanent airship or pavilion by making a NPC that gives a conduit if you have that permanent pass. This would not be the only way to get a conduit but would be fair to people who already bought them, and a incentive to people who don’t want to get it via a similar method to the mystic conduit.
This would take away way to much from the items already in game (perma bank). Also how would you deal with the master crafters and the things you need from them? This is one of the major drawbacks of the mysticforge conduit as it does not come with an NPC like Miyani, were you can buy all the additional stuff you need to forge).
What you really want is just an option added to the airship/plaza that allows you to exit back to the location you where when you used the pass to enter. This can be added next to the ‘regular’ exit and the asura gate to all main towns that are already there. So these passes get the same functionality as the WvW crafting stations had.
This would potentially also boost perma pass sales as many currently used ‘free’ travel to WvW for this purpose.

What I want is the convenience of WvW back. That is not going to happen so this is what I think would be similar convenience.
Amen brother.
RIP Anvil Rock crafting stations
I have a suggestion why not give us researchable crafting benches for our guild halls? That way it will still be convenient once researched and give us another use/reason to go to the guild halls. It would also be another gold/material sink for Anet since researching it like everything else guild hall related has been so expensive to this point. I think this is something that most people in a guild would be happy to help out building just for the convenience factor alone.
Knowing anet they would set the requirements to be lvl 60 guild and thousands of mats. That is a dumb way to go but so is removing convenience systems. Also not everyone is in a guild with hall and non HoT people would be inconvenienced.

It takes nothing away from them — it is something with a different feature.

Sure, it wouldn’t resolve all the issues — just the primary ones that I deal with.
What you really want is just
I’m not sure you can speak for me — I do want this feature.

I would love this, especially as it would mean I don’t have to buy a new gizmo (or find a way to free up another shared inventory slot).
Sure, this would be better than the OP’s solution. Still, I’d be very happy with that OP’s idea.

It would indeed.
Maybe this should just be offered once again:

In a way, yes. The problem is it is a one off consumable and takes up space on the map (not a huge deal but ascetically unappealing to me).
Modified it would be fine.
EDIT: I think I still have one floating around either on a mule or buried in my bank. With WvW it was more trouble than it was benefit but I guess now it would be useful if it was actually still in game.

It’s a nice idea but you know it would be put in game through a black lion chest with a very rare drop rate and cost 2 -3k gold, thus being unavailable to the majority of players both by rarity and by cost.
I’d rather they put crafting tables in the HoTM or sell a crafting table upgrade in the gem store for the home instance (together with selling the home instance portal stone) rather than having a conduit that’s not really available because of price.
ANet may give it to you.

Which is why I made the parallel with the mystic forge conduit. It was at one time BL drop only and stupidly expensive. Now it is well within everyone’s range if they actually know about it and plan to buy it.
