in every playstyle imaginable,
they’ll call it a day and release HoT.
Hello, I would love to bring a suggestion which I believe could enhance the social aspect of gaming for all players in GW2. And it is Custom Chat Channel Creation.
Now, what would be a Custom Chat Channel?
A Custom Chat Channel (let’s shorten it to CCC) is a chat channel independent of region and guild that can potentially unite all and any players its creator wishes to invite into. There would be a User Interface that would allow a player to manage CCCs they create and have been invited to. The one who creates a CCC will be given a set of options to manage it. They can name it, set password (if they want), send invitations to players they wish would join the channel, kick unwelcomed players, ect.
A player wishing to join an already existing CCC can either be invited to it, or given the name, or the name and password, depending on the restriction and management the creator has chosen for said channel.
What are the possible uses for Custom Chat Channels?
Because CCCs are not restricted by region nor guild and allow any players across the server to join, the uses for CCCs can be limited only by the own players. Examples of the reasons and motivations for using CCC are as follow:
The uses for CCC are limitless, they are created for whatever purpose it’s creator chooses them. Of course, any behavior occurring within CCC that breaks the EULA can be reported just like in any other chat channel. I believe the inclusion of Custom Chat Channel creation into GW2 will expand, broaden, and unify more players together to enjoy all various aspects of the game.
tldr?
anyway this is good idea especially for guild alliances/wvw community/any pve fights like teq. or 3h wurm.
even spvp can use it to find team. megaserver good tech., but it has player limit per map.

They already have them – /Team, /Squad, /party – with Wurm or teq – /map is fine.
I only think Rp’ers need their own channel do they don’t clog up map chat.
They have this in Rift iirc.
Rift’s chat box options are like hitting the Chat Box Lottery lol
FULLY customizable in every possible way you could think of.
This is a very frustrating part of GW2 for me. Especially as an officer when I need to get everyone’s attention in chat & I can’t even change the chat color to stand out….
I’ve made a post (& so have others) suggesting server wide chat, but this is a MUCH better idea
+1
I’ve seen the “RP clogs up Map Chat” comment a few too many times of late.
RP doesn’t generally use Map chat. You want to be part of the world but only part of the immediate area. Using Map to RP would be like having your quiet lunch time conversation filmed for live broadcast on a giant screen in Times Square. Along with everyone else’s lunches, all jumbled together in a mass of gibberish.
Nor would custom channels be necessarily used to RP in. That just has people standing around silently, occasionally taking a step forward or back to avoid getting timed out, and at that point we might as well be in some text medium like MoPad or AIM or Skype.
However, they would be amazing for coordinating groups who aren’t all in the same guild or for letting guild alliances chat together. They would allow large scale organization of RP or other events.
/Team is essentially /Map, just focused on the hundreds on one side of PvP. /Squad requires someone to have a commander tag, put it on, and get people to get close enough to click him/her to join. /Party is all of 5 people.
Custom channels have been in most MMO’s I’ve played. They seem a no-brainer let’s-have-it feature.
Of course then they’d have to either assign colors, or let us have custom colors as well. Which they really should do. That grey emote text is painful. After 2 years of it (it started in beta) and constant complaints about it, this is the one point where I feel like the devs are deliberately making something unfun since a color tweak would have to be about the easiest change to the game they could ever make …
Besides Rift, other games that include a Custom Chat Channel Creation aspect are World of Warcraft and Star Wars: The Old Republic. I have played in both those MMOs and during my experience as guild moderator and officer in those two games, CCCs have been a great boon for us. They are immensely helpful in unifying guilds and coordinating events between them. They are also very useful for RPers, both guild-wide and independently. They are great even if its to just have your small close-knit group of friends together even as they find themselves doing their own thing and in different guilds.
And yes, it would be very practical and useful if along with CCC we can have the ability to custom choose the colors for each channel in our user interface.

It seems useful in general, and a great idea for RP in particular. There’s a lot of times when even using /s chat for RP can get difficult for RP’ers, especially when other RP’ers are doing the same in the same area, and it can definitely lead to clogging up the chat for others who aren’t interested in it. You can always use instances or party chat to get around this, but both of those are limited to 5 people. When you’re trying to run a RP with more than than 5 people, all the options available have potential problems, with the best of the bunch seemingly being to find a secluded area, use /s chat, and just hope and pray that it doesn’t get totally ruined by some other RP’ers or RP bomber showing up that interfere in it.
