Hello,

I open this thread to do a suggestion about an idea I have had a time ago.

It concerns outfits. It’s a great value for the game and it’s nice to have some outfits you can put while fighting. And now, with the pvp system for the standard view of class (heavy, light and medium), all players can see what type they are fighting.

I understand that it’s not possible to transmut a skin from a certain type onto another type, like a skin from a robe onto a heavy armor. But, it would be great if we could have an item that can make our avatar wear another skin of armor from a type he can’t actually wear.

My idea is as follow :
- Put an item on the gemstore named Custom outfit (or something like that)
- When this item is consumed, it adds a special outfit in the outfit list
=> See attached file #1 or http://i.imgur.com/DmrQriP.jpg
- This outfit adds a button (like “Custom outfit”) and when someone click on this button it opens a new window
- On this new window, we can choose what type of armor we want between light, medium and heavy
=> See attached file #2 or http://i.imgur.com/KmVo5J3.jpg
- Then, this choice open the wardrobe (with the skins the account have) for the type selected. And we can select the skins we want.
=> See attached file #3 or http://i.imgur.com/eSXho0Y.jpg
- When we hit Apply, it consumes transmutation charges for any changes we make. Then, the Custom outfit becomes an outfit like any others outfits
- For Dyes, it should be on the hero panel and have 4 choices, like other outfits. But it should behave like a preview. The first dye match the first slot on the piece, and so on.
=> See attached file #4 or http://i.imgur.com/wP8qh5B.jpg

When someone wants to change his outfit, he can custom it again by changing the type and/or the skins.
We should have the choice to let head, hands and shoulders blank if we want, but it should always consume one charge for each slot changed.

I would gladly buy an outfit like this at 800 or even 1000 gems even if I should pay for transmutation charges after each change.

I hope you will find this idea great and support it.

Have a nice day

Isnt it the same as allowing to transmute all skins on all classes?

why this complicated way instead of delete the classification light, medium, heavy at skins in wardrobe?

or i only dont get the point?

It’s not the same. Because you will choose one type of armor for all the pieces.

Anet said they would not allow a reverse of the classification types of armor. Because the pieces will not match between them (clip).

ah the clipping

awesome example.

try to create a medium asura and you will find excactly one (ugly) shoe set (including armor sets from gem shop) where the toes dont clip . even at 2 of 3 cultural the toes are clipping out of the shoe.

Oh, yes, magnificent ascalon boots, almost only ones that have toes…

I DONT like outfits at all. And I dont like “standard view” either. It is totally anti inmersive. I understand the idea is to “normalize” the combat in PvP, but well, I think normalizing races and armors is just a lazy way of avoid the real work, that is balance.

I want to play with my asura against that huge norn in a fair fight! I don’t want to play only humans, or to look like one.

Whatever. Is not like Anet would hear me, anyway.

The idea here is not to debate about clipping or standard view in PvP.

It’s to propose a new outfit that is all custom with our choices of skins.

Example : I got a guardian but I want it to wear a “robe” when in town. With this, I just activate the outfit when I want.

I like the idea, I would actually prefer if we could use whatever we want skin wise. Skills are pretty clear to help identify a class in PVP too so it’s not like we would get confused either.
I use medium armor, but I’d love to use some of the light or heavy armor on my char.

It’s a good idea.
This overcomes the problem of assembling parts of different types and lets players to wear an outfit that suits them, whatever their classes. Players who like Role Play are gonna love !

As long as the game gives different armor types different mechanic stats and ties them to different professions, I’ll be against “hiding” them, no matter the method, even in pve. That’s one of the reasons I don’t like outfits to begin with.

In other words, although I do like the idea from a basic aethetic point of view, I think it is as disruptive and incoherent with the GW2 system as outfits are.

In the end, I would prefer simply a way to store the visual dye/armor combination I’m using, so I can access it whenever I want, “like an outfit”, but without bypassing my armor type or making every skin accesible through pure cash.
