[Suggestion] Custom outfits, create your own!
I think it’s an interesting idea, but I don’t know how many players would pay in extra transmutation stones (especially once they realise it would be cheaper to set all the skins they want then transmute it all at once) than using a presaved outfit.
That being said, I thought this thread would be more about contest to make a new Gem store outfit which would be cool. Maybe they could implement skins that would only be available through the “Custom Outfit” system? Because you can transmutate more than one item at once – so all it would be doing is saving the extra step of picking out the skin.
I strongly doubt that this would happen, even if it is a nice idea.
Currently, armour is weighted. That is, a Scholar can only wear Light armour and so on.
Having a system where you can mix and match armour weights is not only a problem because of clipping issues, it gets rid of the “feel” for different classes in their respective armours.
Of course, currently we have outfits where a heavy could look the same as a light. However, I think if A-net wanted to homogenise skin weights, they would’ve done so in the wardrobe patch and outfit change.
This is pretty much how most games do it. ANet made a conscious decision to tie changing your appearance to gems, and it’s one of their biggest money makers. While it could be nice, I doubt it will happen.
It’s an interesting idea, but the look of each piece of armor would have to be transferred to a 4th armor weight (the new outfit system you ask for). It wouldn’t fit with the old outfit system as that’s not modular, so it would be completely separate.
Because the different armor weights have seams in different places, that means lots of clipping and gaps where the seams don’t match up. Also, inevitably, that means people will complain about the gaps and clipping when they try to mix and match pieces from different weights and there are gaping holes. It will look shoddy and no matter how often it’s explained, people won’t like it and will demand that it be fixed.
ANet may give it to you.
Yeah right,forget that idea.
I LOVE this idea OP.
I don’t know if Anet will ever adopt it but I wish they would. Seems like a pretty cool feature.
Thanks for the replies.
I forgot to talk about the armor types, but I wasn’t suggesting other classes could use different armor weights.
Instead, the outfits could be restricted by armor type.
The whole idea is basically so that people can play dress up everyday without having to commit into transmuting your armor and your look.
The extra cost in outfit slots and transmutation stones is only to compensate the loss for anet in transmutation sales, but they could decide to go with other options, doesn’t have to be too costly.
Anyway I appreciate your opinions thank you.

It wouldnt be hard to charge gems for every custom outfit that you want to create/save.
It could be slightly less than what gemstore outfits cost, say 600 gems per outfit saved.
And weight arguments are silly in the light of clearly weighted outfits like Ceremonial Plate, Shadow Assassin or Ancestral.
