Hey guys,

Now I know this is a long shot and this will most likely never happen, but I’m still inclined to share my idea. I assume this may have been suggested previously, but I’ve yet to see any topics concerning this issue.

The problem that I find to be the most frustrating for me personally in this game is the continuous exploration of the world with new characters. Don’t get me wrong, the first three times it was quite fun, although being on the 7th playthrough, I find it to be.. tedious and forcing myself through it since I do enjoy having the freedom of being able to port about the world for guild missions and world events.

My suggestion would be as follows : give us an OPTION when creating a new character to gain the equivalent explored content as our character that has explored the most WITHOUT gaining any experience, any skill points or any benefits that you would otherwise gain if you would do it the normal way. I do not believe that this would affect gameplay in anyway than taking away the feeling of that endless grind and the massive new character “entrance fee” that you feel you’re paying just to play a new class.

Again, this would simply be an option to those who feel that it is tedious. It would both in a way punish people who do not explore by taking away the possibility to gain skillpoints through the already explored areas without making the people who do it feel like they’re wasting time. I do not feel that giving players an option to do something differently in anyway causes too many issues in that regard.

The only problem that I see with this feature is that the maps might be a bit less populated due to people not having to grind their several playthrough. In that case, perhaps certain other punishements may be enforced to level out the “explore/not explore” choices.

Interested in hearing other opinions.

I think a waypoint scroll that transferred all the waypoints you have unlocked on your account to a new toon, would be good enough.

I’d take anything in that direction.

Cartography as a crafting skill, you can make zone based account bound maps for any zone that you have 100% on then consume with a new character. Some parchment, inks, dyes etc. should be easy to have a bunch of recipes. There aren’t actually that many zones.

It’s not very tedious or time-consuming, if you’re just running through and unlocking certain waypoints you need.

Personally, I’d like the option to adjust experience gain so I don’t constantly gain a butt-load of exp just from unlocking a map or completing a map. I’d like to get all the traits for finishing a map but, if I’m sub-80 and just crafted a great set of gear for my level, I’d rather not outlevel that gear by just walking around. Then when I get too many levels, the gear is outdated and you start doing worse, forcing you to change out of the gear you likely spent materials, gold and/or transmutation charges to make.

Perhaps an option, like the OP, to just unlock them all on another character? Maybe link two characters so activities accomplished on one transfers to the other? Or (for my problem mainly) just turn exp off for content below or not within a certain range of your level?
