[Suggestion] Falling damages reduction
Thats something that should have happenred in my opinion already instantly with the introduction of the Mastery System to have there something, that reduces fall damage, so that all the useless fall damage traits could be removed from the game and exchanged out with bette and much more overall useful traits that actually are useful for all game modes equally and not just only for 2 modes mostly only
Fall Damage reduction should get merged into the Gliding Mastery as part of Tier 1 anm the Final Tier.
Tier one gives you first 25% reduction
Final Tier improves it then to 50% reduction.
I’d love to be able to activate fall damage traits at will. That would make the traits quite useful for most classes. Their ICDs would need to be significantly increased (that or the source of the fall damage would).
That would be nice to have those traits changed to something that could be viable for some builds. Personally i think adding fall damage reduction to the gliding mastery line would not be the right way to do it.

I mean, really, does anyone outside of WvW gate defenders even have use for the AoE damage? Does anyone in the HoT maps deliberately close their gliders early to trigger the falling AoE on mobs?

Of course, I’m always trying to hit the mushrooms while shouting: “It’se me, Mario!”
I’d say to leave them as they are for now. With gliding in the core maps, we may see more people using the glider to get above a target and drop as a way to start a fight. Let’s give it a chance, and see what people do with it.
Plus, there’s the problem of running out of endurance while gliding, and dropping further than you’d like. Or dropping early to not overshoot a target. Even with gliding, some people will want a way to reduce fall damage.
[Edit] Oh, and let’s not forget gliding in the new Shatterer fight. From the sounds of it, he may be able to knock people out of the air.

Yeah, I agree that fall reduction should be a core Tyria mastery and the traits made available to something more useful.
I’d be happy with just removing “in combat” flagging when you take falling damage. I hate being slowed down for jumping off a stupid boulder and barely taking any damage.
All the falling damage traits already have some other thing in addition to the falling damage reduction. Gliding only applies to people who own HoT?
The problem is that most of the traits are 100% fall-damage based. They may have another effect in addition to reducing fall damage, but that effect (in all but one case) only activates when you do take fall damage.
Only Thief has a trait with another effect, and theirs is a GM instead of an adept like every other class.

If you run out, either you’re not at a deadly level and you have nothing to fear, or you are at a deadly level, then your endurance can rescharge a bit before your reach the ground, enough for you to re-open your glider one second, and negate falling damages.
