In light of all the new training mechanics being worked into lower levels, I think it would be a very good idea to implement guides and explanations for fields and finishers.

This is a very important aspect of group content that I have seen largely ignored (unless in organized play) just due to the fact that people unknowingly spam their skills, regardless of field/finisher. Teaching at around level 20 would give people ample time to practice, learn the combos, and finally implement in group settings.

A simple UI chart that shows the results of the various fields and finishers interactions would be helpful as well.

This is a good idea. Fields and finishers are a huge part of what makes the combat system function, players who master these effects are much more fluent in gameplay overall.

There was a suggestion along these lines a while back, for an NPC/heart/DE like the combat training heart in Queensdale where NPCs give instructions and provide a kit/bundle to create fields and finishers.

Hats off to all the ones who stood before me, and taught a fool to ride.

+1 this idea. Only for when I started playing lots of wvw did I learn the beauty of combos. Now it’s almost second nature to watch for the right fields to blast depending on the situations but this required a great deal of trial and error

Agreed on this.

Knowing how to use combinations properly separates very good players from the merely well-equipped, and while people eventually learn it, the earlier they do, the more engaging their gameplay would be.

I think you made my point much better than I made my own

I’ve seen many threads complaining about the combat system being ‘too shallow and spammy,’ and a lot of that has to do with the fact that people are using their skills at the wrong times, or using skills that would not provide the most benefit to their group. The combat would be a lot more attractive to these players if they understood the concepts behind the system, what makes it important, and what you can do as an individual to make the group stronger.
