Occasionally in the past there have been small “thank you” gifts for purchasing gems during a certain period of time. Those were a nice little surprise.

As someone who purchases gems on a fairly regular basis, I have a suggestion:

Many stores have frequent buyer cards/programs. Something similar would be a nice feature for the gem store. Example: On the 1st of each month your account gets gems equal to 10% of the amount of gems you bought the previous month. Buy 4000 gems in February? On March 1st you get 400 gems as a bonus.

Or perhaps certain tiers that you hit over time. When you’ve reached the 10,000 gems purchased (regardless of the span of time it took to reach that mark) you get 1000 gems.

Those are just basic ideas. Anyone have any other similar suggestions/ideas?

Also: this topic is simply meant to suggest ideas about some type of frequent buyer rewards with the gem store. It is not meant to be a debate over the value/usefulness/quality of any gem store item, whether you think gems are fairly priced, what you think should be added/removed from the gem store, etc. This is strictly meant to be about the topic as described above.

Only if it was retro active please???? Oh, and it would have to be with real life money.

10% interest per month (which is basically what you described) is a crazy amount to increase the wealth by periodically.

ArenaNet might actually like this idea. Further incentive to buy gems only means more money for ArenaNet. Personally I’m fine either way. I periodically buy gems with real money because every once in a while they come up with things I actually want and I have money set aside for discretionary spending such as this (budgeting: it’s a good thing). It would be a smart business move by them, to say the least. If it works for brick and mortar stores, it will likely work here too.

This was being done for a time. Every week if you bought gems through the in game gem interface (gift cards didn’t work) you would get a black lion gem store item as a reward a bit into the next week. Dunno why they stopped though.

I was under the impression that these promotional items were available for everybody during special occassions? There were things like TP express, Revive Orbs, Dye Packs, Mini 3 Packs and very occassionally a BL Key.

Nothing of particular consequence, nothing (personally) I would buy from the TP myself.

Perhaps, because there are 4 guaranteed BL items over a course of 28 days through log-in rewards, they’ll hang-back on the promotional items?

What I’m speaking of is something they did years ago, back when the game was still new. The recent promos are free for all.
