Guild Wars 2

Guild banners are always welcome in PVX but besides showing the guild logo it doesn’t really say much about the guild that placed it, so my suggestion is to include a text box inside the banner with a message from the guild lord and a hyperlink for a recruitment option (requesting an invite to the guild).
It can be a hyperlink to an external page or internal depending on what can be done with the game code (I have no idea if it can be done I am not a programmer), at least show the name of the person in charge to recruit new member in a guild.
If you go ahead with this please also leave an option to disable the recruitment since sometimes guild reach maximum capacity and do not require any new members.
I think this will be more rewarding for the guild that place the banner and for the player in general

this is actually a pretty awesome idea, but the external link part can leave to viruses, trojans, xploits… well you get the point; what we really have to make this happen and the player should really have the member counter, or at least guild orientation (wvw, pvx).

I would avoid having a hyperlink to an external page in game.

I do like the idea of having a little more then just the tiny name on the banner, but would it really be that much more useful then the usual /maps people send out when recruiting, and theres always the potential abuse (similar to the request about having commander tags with customizable text on them).

What I would be 100% on is how about a click and it takes you to the guild screen as if you are looking at a received guild invite but haven’t accepted or declined it yet. Avoids potential text/link issues, and it would let the person see about the guild.

I was mentioning the external link because some guild uses their forums to manage the recruitment, but you are right it can be dangerous. I would be just happy with the message of the day reflected in the banners. Imagine how much information you can place in there to make the recruit experience much more pleasant

I’d be wary of making message of the day publically visible – some guilds use that to hold sensitive info like TeamSpeak/Mumble server details.

I think it’s a good idea to have something more than just the logo, though.
