Hey guys.

I’ll admit, my topic title sucks, because I wasn’t really sure what you’d call the system I have in mind, so hopefully my explanation will sound better.

I had this idea for guilds where ANet could introduce a new UI under the guild menu, which gives players access to a list of guilds that currently exist in the game, with filter options to search by name, amount of members, home worlds, nationality/language and guild themes or focuses (eg, roleplaying guilds, dungeon guilds, wvw guilds, etc). Likewise, for the guilds themselves, introduce a new section under the guild menu where the guild leader can tick checkboxes that pertain to what kind of content they focus on (for example, a roleplaying guild would tick the checkbox for roleplaying, whereas a multi-role guild could tick multiple checkboxes that pertain to what they do, like guild missions, dungeons, daily events, wvw, etc).

The idea behind this system is to give players an alternative way to search for guilds that they might be interested in joining without having to rely on asking for guilds on the map chat, or waiting for a guild message that mentions the kinds of content they are interested in. Any guild interested in recruiting players could also put their recruitment message up, which would then show up on the guild list under their guild for other players to find. This would circumvent them having to rely solely on spamming the map chat with recruitment messages in the hopes of acquiring more members and would act as a passive means of recruitment.

You could even give guilds the options of having different levels of recruitment active. The three levels you could implement are:

1) "auto-join’, which means a player can join your guild immediately without needing approval just by clicking a join button on the guild list.
2) “approval required”, which would then send a message to guild officers/leaders with the power to recruit members, which they’d then either approve or reject.
3) “invitation only”, which prevents players from being able to join at all, unless invited directly (good for guilds who don’t want to recruit all the time but who do want to add friends now and then).

Anyway, it’s just an idea, but I do think it would streamline guild recruitment quite a bit, both for players looking to join and for guilds trying to recruit.

Only if it was opt-in exclusive. Otherwise, the list would be filled with abandoned/dead/personal Guilds, which would probably run in the tens of thousands, at least.

Yeah, I think having an option to list your guild would be great. They could even implement a cost to listing your guild (perhaps guild commendations with daily/weekly/monthly timeframe options), so completely inactive guilds won’t be present.

That along with the filters would help players thin out the herd, so to speak, and find that they are looking for.

Good ideas OP.

This would make life a lot easier for new players too.
